Rescue Me ID: 15-05-06-00444Mollie (female)
Mollie just turned 2 April 20th. She is a mix of a Schnoodle and a Schnorkie (schnauzer/ yorkie) She is a very sweet little girl, but likes to escape the house. She ran off and bit someone with the other dog in the house :-( We cannot keep her in our neighborhood. She would love to run around or have someone who can walk her frequently to get out some of her energy.

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-23-00606Morkie (male)
THIS IS NOT A HOMEWARD TRAILS DOG. There is an adoption process including an adoption application, home visit, and adoption fee. For more info or to adopt Morkie, please contact Rebecca at Rwarwick@nbm.org. Morkie is such an adorable and extremely sweet little muppet. He was surrendered by an owner who never had time for him. Morkie is about 3 years old and weighs 10 lbs. This wiggly little guy loves people and is super friendly. Morkie likes to follow his person around so he can get lots of together time. He might do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. Since he does not like to be crated, he can be baby-gated in a room when he is left alone. Morkie currently lives with another small dog and cats. So, he should be okay with new animal companions if given proper introductions. His adoption fee includes neuter and current vaccinations. Can you please give this little charmer the loving home he needs? He will reward you with cuddles, wiggles, snuggles, and love forever! Please apply to adopt Morkie today. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-07-00541Jed (male)
It is with a heavy heart that I post this - I have to re-home a dog. I rescued him from a very bad puppy mill and they told me he was a Maltese/Yorkie.... In other words, a little lap dog. The doc who neutered him and his groomer both noticed he was growing into a VERY active Jack Russell Terrier / Yorkie mix. He is adoreable, loving, lovable and almost fully house trained. His vet records are all up to date and he is very healthy. The ONLY reason I am doing this is because my business is going to have me on the road this summer. This was fine when we thought he'd grow into a little lap dog that my parents could babysit, but unfortunately his energy and jumping are dangerous around my elderly mom. Also, he has to spend an enormous amount of time in his kennel (which I hate) especially when My small granddaughter is here because his jumping leaves her scratched to pieces and trips her up even though he just wants to play. Soooo, I am going to let him go to a place where he will be loved, have the space to deal with all his Terrier energy and get the amount of snuggles he's grown accustomed to. He will be ten months old on the 15th. PLEASE only serious doggy lovers respond. I know some of you will find this irresponsible, but I really just love him enough to want him to be in to best possible situation. Also, please only recommend those folks you can vouch for. I definitely won't let him go unless I believe he'll have the best possible situation. Thanks! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-01-00377Lucky (male)
Lucky's owner died and surviving family members took him to a vet to have euthanized as they didn't want him. We were happy to take the 10-12 year boy into our foster program. He's a big boy at 26 pounds. He's very sweet and a no problem kind of dog. He has had a dental, updated on vaccinations, negatative for heartworm, positive for Lyme. He is on antibiotcs for this and will be until May 1. He's a doll!

Animal ID: #15-033Rocco (VA) (male)
03/9/15 Meet Rocco - he just came into his new foster home and is working on settling in. Rocco is 8 years old, 11 pounds, and being fostered in Hardy, VA. Rocco appears to be in need of a lot of tender loving care. He came in to UYR in pretty rough shape. He is going to the vet soon for his check up and vaccinations. Once he gets a nice bath and a grooming he will be a new dog. The vet will be checking his eyes and skin as he seems to have a rash. He definitely needs a dental so he will be getting that done soon, too. Rocco will be an amazing dog after receiving the proper medical care, good food, and a ton of loving care. Rocco is getting along fine with the other dogs in the home, but doesn't seem to like the cats. His foster mom will be working on that with him, but at this time it looks like a no cat family would be the best fit for him. Once Rocco has seen the vet we will know a lot more. He is partially house trained and is great with kids. He also rides nicely in the car and is crate trained. Look for more information and Rocco's picture coming soon. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-06-00428Jango (male)
Jango is a high energy kid! Always moving and loves to sit on your chest and snuggle. Loves to play and will never tire. There is a couple of issues: he needs a lot of attention, will bark a lot if left alone, and has a very weak bladder because he is skittish. All of his shots are up to date. He needs a forever home with a family that will love him.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Virginia
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
