Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00762Emmie (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Emmie is a yorkie who is very little and only weighs 6 lbs. Emmie was a rescue who was left outside for 2 yrs after her female owner found a boyfriend who did not want Emmie around. Emmie has a skin problem, a yeast infection, probably caused by being kept outside by her previous owner which probably was the cause of her yeast infection. this is just like yeast infection women also contract. She does not like being outside. She will do her business and want to immediately come back inside. She is a very low keyed happy little dog who is happy just hanging out in the house. She is on probiotics, fish oil and antihistamines daily. The ... (Read More)antihistimine helps control her itching and the supplements fight the yeast. I purchase the HEB brand antishistimes for $4 for 100 tablets and give her 1/4 tablet 4 times a day. The probiotics and fish oil are cvs or Walgreens brand are inexpensive and I usually get on sale, buy 1 get 1 free. As I previously noted, if her next owner continues these treatments Emmie will be free of the yeast infection, she is almost there, 90% clear already. The new owner must be willing to commit the time and energy towards helping Emmie get rid of the yeast infection so she can be her happy self, she's a real sweetheart. (Less)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My foster mama named me Elsa, because I'm a pretty little girl...just like a princess! I am just a tiny little girl which makes me the perfect size to fit in your lap! Which is my preferred place to be. I am house trained, but still have the occasional 'accident' in the house. I am learning to walk on a leash. I still need some work on that training stuff mom is always talking about. I LOVE to wrestle with the other dogs. I particularly enjoy biting their ankles and then running away!!! I like all the dogs in the house and I like the little skin people they call kids. I am really the sweetest little girl. So, if you're looking ... (Read More)for a sweet lap dog to give you lots of kisses, then I'm your girl! We can go to dog parks together and I love to shop. Let my foster mom know if you would like to know more about me, or would like to meet me. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Well hello there, my name is Ariel. It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm a little bitty teddy bear looking for my forever family. I'm a happy go-with-the-flow kind of gal though, so I'm perfectly content to be just about anywhere as long as I have people who love me. I can play with my little sister or with the big dogs in the house. Depends on the mood I'm in. I always make sure you know when someone is at the door and when the mailman comes to drop off any goodies for you. There might be something in there for me, you know. I like to think I'm full of marshmallow fluff because I'm as sweet as they come. I love to play with toys and run ... (Read More)through the house playing chase. I am young, so I am still working on potty training. I have been doing pretty good mom says but she says I have accidents once in a while. Oh, did I mention I LOVE treats. I know, I know... Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Little Bit is a 1 year old, 5 pound female Yorkie mix. She is extremely lovable and would make a great lap dog. She is housebroken and kennel trained. She has a submissive temperament and will roll over and let you rub her belly all day. She is a bit shy when first met, but is very loving when she warms up. She loves sleeping in her kennel with the door open during the day. She will play with the other dogs, as long as they don't get crazy with her. She would not a be a good dog with small children, due to her size. She would be an excellent apartment dog, because she barks very little. Little Bit is spayed, vaccinations up to date, ... Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Peyton (2 years old, and 5.5 lbs.) She is a Yorkie mix (possibly with a little Pom thrown in.) Peyton is very much a princess. She is a youngster with an old soul. She is very calm and quiet, with lovely manners. Her favorite spot - a lap (which she doesn't like to share). Peyton loves with all her heart and becomes protective of her person (she prefers women). She will do best in a home as an only child, or with older, calm pups. Peyton DOES NOT play. Due to her size we would prefer a home with no small children. We are unsure about how she would be with cats. She is potty trained, and crate trained (but doesn't like it at all). She prances ... (Read More)on a leash and loves to go for walks. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-13-00340LENNY - $170 (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

PLEASE read COMPLETE BIO. LENNY was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 11th April 2015. He was an owner surrender and so could have been killed at any time. LENNY does have some sores around his neck, eyes and face, but antibiotics are working and clearing him up and he is healing nicely. When I brought LENNY back to the rescue he was very fearful of the other dogs and even in a crate in my bedroom he would cry. Over the first few hours I introduced him to the other dogs, but had them keep their distance and within less than 24 hours, he was happy being outside with them doing his own thing. LENNY doesn't really play with the ... (Read More)other dogs, he doesn't mind being amongst them, but is not one to run around playing. This may change over time as he gets used to being with them. LENNY definitely likes his human company and will try and sit with me as much as he can. At night he lies close to me, tucked up either in the small of my back or in front of my legs. He is most definitely happy being a lap-dog for sure. LENNY is very sweet and we do not know what happened to him, but we know it wasn't his fault and that he deserves a family that will give him the love and care that he deserves. LENNY is house and crate trained, I do have a dog door, but he tends to follow me outside when I go out to spend time with the dogs playing. LENNY is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 April 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed around 10 pounds. LENNY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 If you are interested in giving this handsome boy his perfect forever home, our application process and form can be found on the website under the APPLICATION tab. Yorkie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Update 4-12-15: Jack is a 6 pound 10 year old yorkie that is being fostered in Grapevine, TX. Here is what he had to say today. Hi everybody. I have been living with my foster family for about a month now, and so much has happened. You see I was a very sick little guy. I was very thin and my thyroid didn't work right. I had a mouth full of infected teeth that hurt so bad, and I had two big bad bladder stones that made it hurt to go potty. Also my skin hurt and my hair was falling out. Foster mom took me straight to the dogtor and he was shocked at what bad condition I was in, but he said, 'we are going to get this boy feeling ... (Read More)better!' He started with some bloodwork that detected my thyroid problem and got me started on some medicine for that and also a special shampoo for my skin. He said the thyroid was making my hair fall out. Then I had a surgery and had 26 teeth removed. Then he sent me home to heal. When I was feeling a little better I went back in and had the bladder stones removed. I just got my stitches out from that surgery, and in a little over two weeks I had gained a whole pound! I am feeling so much better! I used to dribble when I pottied and I couldn't control my bladder at all, so I had to wear this diaper thing called a belly band. Not anymore! I have almost completely stopped 'dribbling' and I go outside to potty now! I also never mark like some boy dogs do, so you don't have to worry about that. I also have a special food so that I won't get those stones again. So now I am ready for my own furever family! FM says I am the sweetest boy, and everyone who meets me falls in love with meoul. I am very calm, I love to go for walks, sleep next to my person, and I love to get petted and will reward you with the sweetest gentle kisses. Don't let my age fool you. I have a lot of life left in me now that all my health problems have been taken care of. My medicine for my thyroid is very inexpensive-less than 10.00 a month, and my food is reasonable as well. I would love to be an only dog with someone that is home quite a bit to let me out, or maybe another senior would be nice. I don't really care for my foster sister. She is just too wild and crazy. I would like a nice, quiet, calm household. If you would like a sweet, gentle little boy like me, just drop my FM a note! (Less)

This sweet lovable dog was apparently dropped off at my home about a month ago. No one has posted a 'lost dog' poster around my house. Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Harper! I am a little shy but very sweet. I love to play with toys and my foster brothers and sisters. When my foster mom is sitting down, I will run up to her to get loves and pets, but sometimes when she approaches me I get a little scared, but I am working on not being so shy and fearful. I have been around lots of kids and other dogs of all%A0different sizes this past week, and I get along with everyone very well. I even played with some kittens a little bit, but then my foster sister Noodles and I started chasing them and they didn't like that game very much. If you are looking for a sweet, loving lap dog then I am the dog for ... (Read More)you. My favorite thing to do is hang out on the couch with my favorite toy! Please don't worry about my shyness, I will get over it with a little love and a wonderful furever home! We estimate that Harper is around 2 years old and weighs about 11 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-19-00279AGGIE (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

AGGIE was saved from GARLAND Animal Shelter on 12th March 2015. She had been an owner surrender. The shelter staff labelled her as 'Fearful Aggressive' and she was scheduled to be killed. When our volunteer went to pick her up to bring her to the safety of the rescue she said she almost jumped in her arms wanting to get out of that shelter. AGGIE we think is a silky terrier / Yorkshire terrier, but we could be wrong, there is no way of knowing and being a German Shepherd Dog Rescue we are not overly familiar with the terrier breeds. AGGIE is a little over-whelmed and clearly now understanding what happened to her. She is cautious of the ... (Read More)other dogs and prefers to stay out of their way, then be amongst them. When she was being vetted and heart-worm tested which involved the drawing of blood the staff did have to muzzle her, but again I think so much has happened to this precious girl in such a short time she is just so over-whelmed. AGGIE is content being at the rescue on her perch she has created on top of the dog crate, or at night she snuggles up close to me at night. AGGIE will do great with a family that loves to have a lap dog, that has a chilled out, none crazy life. I do think that she would adapt to living with other animals but this would take time. AGGIE does get fearful and does look she will bite when stressed, which although sounds bad, this is a natural reaction for dogs to do - and so she needs a family that understands and accepts this, that will work with her to over-come her fears and equally as importantly who has a veterinarian who is compassionate and understanding too. AGGIE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated age of 3 years and at the time of rescue weighed 13.80 pounds. AGGIE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. If you are interested in adopting this precious girl and giving her the life she needs and deserves our application can be completed and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab. Animal ID: 15-032Jack (male)

Yorkie    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Update 03/16/15: Jack is a 10 year old, 5.5 pound yorkie that is being fostered in Grapevine, TX. He came into rescue when his owner didn't have the resources or the time to care for him. He is a very sick little boy. Bloodwork showed he had a very serious infection and an under active thyroid. He is on medicine for both of those conditions. The under active thyroid has caused him to have hyper pigmented skin which is very dark and almost looks like he is covered in little black pimples. He also has a large amount of flaking and a condition called seborrhea. He has to be lathered with a special shampoo and sit with it on for 10 minutes daily ... (Read More)to clear up the skin conditions. He also has two very large bladder stones that make it very hard for him to urinate, and it also makes him incontinent. In addition it is causing blood in his urine. He had surgery on March 11th and had 26 teeth removed that were abscessed and infected. The vet wasn't comfortable doing his bladder surgery at that same time, so he is having the bladder stones removed on March 25th. In the meantime, he is wearing a belly band. Jack is a very sweet, gentle little guy that just wants to be loved and cared for. He is such a good boy about all the treatment he is going through right now. He won't be available for adoption until he is completely recovered from his treatment. That being said, UYR could sure use some financial support for this little guy. He deserves to feel better, and we can't treat these little angels without support from caring people. Please stay tuned as he progresses through his next surgery. Initial Bio 3/13/15 Jack was surrendered due to his owner's inability to continue to care for him. He desperately needs a dental with extractions, special baths for his skin condition and further evaluation of his urinary issues. Watch for updates as we continue with his vetting. (Less)

Animal ID: 15-029Mason (male)

Yorkie    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Update 03-30-15: Well I had my dental and neuter today and I'm pretty excited because I got to keep so many more teeth than originally expected!! I also had some blood work done and the doctor says my platelets are much higher than when I first visited and this is good news!! My leg appears to be healing very well and I have an appointment to have these pins removed on May 2nd. If all goes well my HW treatment will begin soon after. I have been told that I need to stay strong as this treatment can be difficult. If cleaning my bowl and playing with my fur siblings will keep me strong I should be good to go. I am a very happy little boy and my ... (Read More)FM says I'm very sweet too (I do not cause a minute of trouble unless you don't want to rub my belly). Guess what....It has been over 2 weeks since FM put my belly band on because .....no accidents!!! My FM says I'm a joy and she can't wait to see me 100% healthy. I am working hard to get well and your support and prayers are so appreciated! Update 03/09/15: Mason had surgery on Wednesday to repair the fracture in his leg. The doctors are very hopeful that it will heal properly and that he can avoid amputation. He is starting to put some weight on the leg which is a good sign. Mason still has a very long road in front of him as his dental needs have been neglected and he is heart worm positive, neither of which can not be dealt with until his leg heals. Due to the heart worms and overall neglect his little body needs to be in better health before going through more surgery or enduring the treatment for the heart worms. He will need your prayers and support as we work to get him ready. He is really a very sweet little guy and is startling to show us his personality. We can tell that he is beginning to feel loved and safe (maybe for the first time) as he is beginning to trust. He is eating well, loves his treats and has already stopped marking inside. He gets so excited when he sees us and seems to enjoy being part of 'the fur pack'. Thank you so much for the love and generosity shown to Mason, he is so deserving of a better life and with your help he will have it. Initial Bio 03/03/15: Mason is a very sweet little boy who arrived at UYR late last night. He has had a very rough time and we are hoping to provide him the love, safety and healing he so desperately needs. Mason was picked up by Animal Control on 2/21 and because he has a broken leg he was left to sit in a cage for a week and was then scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, a group saw how sweet he is, pulled him aside and contacted UYR with only hours to go. When he arrived at his foster home he would not eat or drink but was so grateful for a soft couch and a warm blanket that he feel asleep quickly. This morning he ate a little (thankfully because he is thin) and then had his first vet visit. It has been determined that his front left leg is fractured (most likely from a larger dog attack) and needs immediate surgery if there is any chance of saving it. Mason is also HW positive so following his surgery he will undergo treatment for this condition. Mason has a very long road ahead of him but we intend to see him through all of it as he is so deserving. With all that he has been through he still trusts both dogs and humans, that's the unconditional love that makes us want to see him happy! We keep telling him that the best part of his life is in front of him!! (Less)

2 year old chi and wired hair terrier mix. He knows how to use a doggy door, he is good with other dogs. He absolutely loves to play fetch or just with a tennis ball. He does not bark and he just loves to cuddle but likes to do his own thing too, so don't plan on him sitting in your lap for hours while you pet his head. He will be scared he is going to miss something and will go play for a while and come back when he's pooped out. He is completely potty trained as well as crate trained.     Rocky is a wonderful companion dog... he's a big boy at 20 pounds for a Yorkie, more in the Silky category or possibly a Weaton Terrier mix. He came to us from a woman who had been watching him on the street for sometime and fed him. Yorkie Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pappy is 8-10 year old male Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese blend weighing 5 pounds. He was found on the streets in very poor condition, covered with fleas/ticks, very dirty and hair very matted. He was barely able to walk and it appeared he had a hip problem. After being cleaned up and give food and care for about a week, he began to walk better and it became obvious it was not his hips, he was just very weak. Pappy is now dancing around the house like a normal, happy senior dog. He loves sleeping the utility room away from all the confusion and will come out and let you know he needs to go out. He gets along well with the most dogs in ... (Read More)foster care. He is not fond of unneutered males. He loves being held and will sit in your lap to watch TV. He will bounce around the room at dinner or when we come in from outside. He is a bit stubborn at times and only does what he wants to do. When sleeping, you do not want to touch him. He comes out of bed like a snapping turtle, until he has a chance to move around and wake up. Then he is Just fine. Animal ID: 13-145Lexi (female)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Update 04/19/14: Lexie is about to go back into training for her next steps. She's a sweet dog - loves adults and teenagers, but isn't good around young children with high energy. She seems to be very nervous around them and isn't on her best behavior. Lexie must be adopted into a home with only adults, and she needs to be the only dog. In this setting, she will thrive. Lexie's foster mom takes her to dog parks, but keeps her on a leash as she continues to work on her socialization skills. Update 4/3/14: Lexie is being fostered in Austin TX. She is 8 years old, 12 pounds and needs to be an only dog in a household with no children. ... (Read More)Lexie's foster mom continues to work on her socialization skills with a trainer who reports that Lexie is one of the most clever terriers she has seen. Lexie loves to play, is housetrained (but you need to watch for her signal), is leash trained and loves to sit on your lap. Lexie is an active and loving little girl who needs a bit more work to make her a perfect companion. Please watch for progress updates on Lexie. INITIAL BIO 09/09/13: Roll out the red carpet, ladies & gents, because we definitely have a super special gem here... Introducing Lexie! Lexi is 8 yrs young and is being fostered in Texas. This sweetness of a girl is quite the entertainer! She has personality to the moon & back! I've only had her for 7 days, so I'm certain there remains much more to learn about lil' Miss. As she settles into her new surroundings & begins to express more, I will update my thoughts on her needs and what I think her best forever home would look like, but for now, here are a few things I've noticed: She LOVES to play!! Can't stress this enough! She seems to prefer the ball, but she'll fetch, (and retrieve very nicely, dropping at your feet), any toy. She definitely needs to be monitored (when outside in the hot weather) because she'll fetch endlessly, exhausting herself, & heat exhaustion can happen quick with terrible consequences. I always have water on hand when we go to the park & make her rest every 3 to 4 throws. She LOVES people, (she's an owner surrender, by the way, who reported Lexie exhibiting anxious behavior around young children, but I have yet to observe this). She walks well on a leash, is housebroken (she always goes to the door, but you must be observant of this bc it's her only que), she barks when someone is on the porch, but not otherwise. Her favor spot is on your lap and she likes to be touching you when it's time for sleeping. She is my permanent shadow at the moment. This may change as she feels more relaxed & comfortable with the changes. Her recall at the dog park is pretty good after only a week. I always have training treats to reward when she responds. Usually, however, she's either chasing her ball or begging you to chunk it, so recalling her isn't necessary. At this point, there is only one issue that I see & that is that she will probably need to be an only dog. She has exhibited dog aggression over her toy/ball, whomever's lap she's in, & on occasion, even the couch. I've seen her advance towards a dog to defend whatever territory she believed to be threatened. She seems pretty adamant with this behavior, so I'm not sure, at 8 yrs old, it'd be likely to change. Other than that, Lexie is an outstanding girl. She's a true joy & gives so much... Whoever is lucky enough to adopt her will fall completely in love! I have no doubt because I'm skipping down that road after 1 short week (Less)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

NOTE: LUCKY IS NOT A 2 POUND TEACUP DOG... IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US. He is 8 pounds and a tall yorkie, he does curl up easily in your lap. Extremely faithful and wonderful... however, the main problem Lucky has is possessive aggression. He will ONLY WORK in a home with him as the only pet. He accepts people very easily and has shown no signs of aggression with people... BUT with other dogs he becomes something different and will attack with no warning in jealousy. If you can accept this and are just looking for a SOLE DOG who will be your companion... Lucky is perfect. He loves his bonded human and ... (Read More)wants to spend all his time with them. Lucky Paws was found from a post on Facebook with a woman desperate to find him help after finding him after a car accident. He had been with another dog that did not make it, laying bloody in the grass and shaking. From this kindhearted woman... who reached out for help... we raced off to assist him. After being placed with a vet overnight, it was determined that Lucky had a laceration on one leg... and the cause of his pain was a broken toe on the same foot. A very Lucky boy indeed! Being placed on supplements to enable him to return to wellness, he is now doing wonderful and jumping up and down for joy. He is 5-6 years old and a very loving little guy. Lucky Paws loves to be a lap dog and gazes about his new environment with wonder. Having no knowledge of his previous environment... we are pretty sure he was a stray on the street for a while as his skin was dry and flaking... with supplements and good diet he is improving rapidly, his fur growing back nice and silky. Someone who is looking for a forever companion would be an ideal match in either a home or small garden apartment. Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Weight: 8.2 lbs Birthdate: 12-4-2008 (approximately) Bathroom Awareness: Lucky is not housebroken... he is working hard on it and if taken out regularly he will be fine. A dog door with protected small yard would be ideal. Integration with others: He is neutered and able to play with others. However, we have not been able to integrate him with any other dog. Meals: Lucky loves to eat! Training: Lucky is very attentive and smart! He picks up words quickly and aims to please. Walks: Lucky LOVES to walk! He will go exploring on a leash and when you are ready he is more than willing to return home. Bedtime: Lucky is not thrilled with a crate but he will go in for bedtime. During the day he absolutely hates it... he prefers to be out and in his bed or wandering around with you. Adoption Fee: $150, includes current vaccinations, microchip, collar, leash, and of course... Lucky Paws! Beaux's Haven is a sanctuary for small dogs enabling them to find their forever homes. We do operate on donations and would like you to know the adoption fee is a part of helping us save the next and the next little dog. PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Texas
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
