|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-19-00279AGGIE (female)|
AGGIE was saved from GARLAND Animal Shelter on 12th March 2015. She had been an owner surrender. The shelter staff labelled her as 'Fearful Aggressive' and she was scheduled to be killed. When our volunteer went to pick her up to bring her to the safety of the rescue she said she almost jumped in her arms wanting to get out of that shelter. AGGIE we think is a silky terrier / Yorkshire terrier, but we could be wrong, there is no way of knowing and being a German Shepherd Dog Rescue we are not overly familiar with the terrier breeds. AGGIE is a little over-whelmed and clearly now understanding what happened to her. She is cautious of the other dogs and prefers to stay out of their way, then be amongst them. When she was being vetted and heart-worm tested which involved the drawing of blood the staff did have to muzzle her, but again I think so much has happened to this precious girl in such a short time she is just so over-whelmed. AGGIE is content being at the rescue on her perch she has created on top of the dog crate, or at night she snuggles up close to me at night. AGGIE will do great with a family that loves to have a lap dog, that has a chilled out, none crazy life. I do think that she would adapt to living with other animals but this would take time. AGGIE does get fearful and does look she will bite when stressed, which although sounds bad, this is a natural reaction for dogs to do - and so she needs a family that understands and accepts this, that will work with her to over-come her fears and equally as importantly who has a veterinarian who is compassionate and understanding too. AGGIE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated age of 3 years and at the time of rescue weighed 13.80 pounds. AGGIE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. If you are interested in adopting this precious girl and giving her the life she needs and deserves our application can be completed and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab. |Animal ID: 15-032Jack (male)|
Update 03/16/15: Jack is a 10 year old, 5.5 pound yorkie that is being fostered in Grapevine, TX. He came into rescue when his owner didn't have the resources or the time to care for him. He is a very sick little boy. Bloodwork showed he had a very serious infection and an under active thyroid. He is on medicine for both of those conditions. The under active thyroid has caused him to have hyper pigmented skin which is very dark and almost looks like he is covered in little black pimples. He also has a large amount of flaking and a condition called seborrhea. He has to be lathered with a special shampoo and sit with it on for 10 minutes daily to clear up the skin conditions. He also has two very large bladder stones that make it very hard for him to urinate, and it also makes him incontinent. In addition it is causing blood in his urine. He had surgery on March 11th and had 26 teeth removed that were abscessed and infected. The vet wasn't comfortable doing his bladder surgery at that same time, so he is having the bladder stones removed on March 25th. In the meantime, he is wearing a belly band. Jack is a very sweet, gentle little guy that just wants to be loved and cared for. He is such a good boy about all the treatment he is going through right now. He won't be available for adoption until he is completely recovered from his treatment. That being said, UYR could sure use some financial support for this little guy. He deserves to feel better, and we can't treat these little angels without support from caring people. Please stay tuned as he progresses through his next surgery. Initial Bio 3/13/15 Jack was surrendered due to his owner's inability to continue to care for him. He desperately needs a dental with extractions, special baths for his skin condition and further evaluation of his urinary issues. Watch for updates as we continue with his vetting. (Less)

|Animal ID: 15-029Mason (male)|
Update 03/09/15: Mason had surgery on Wednesday to repair the fracture in his leg. The doctors are very hopeful that it will heal properly and that he can avoid amputation. He is starting to put some weight on the leg which is a good sign. Mason still has a very long road in front of him as his dental needs have been neglected and he is heart worm positive, neither of which can not be dealt with until his leg heals. Due to the heart worms and overall neglect his little body needs to be in better health before going through more surgery or enduring the treatment for the heart worms. He will need your prayers and support as we work to get him ready. He is really a very sweet little guy and is startling to show us his personality. We can tell that he is beginning to feel loved and safe (maybe for the first time) as he is beginning to trust. He is eating well, loves his treats and has already stopped marking inside. He gets so excited when he sees us and seems to enjoy being part of 'the fur pack'. Thank you so much for the love and generosity shown to Mason, he is so deserving of a better life and with your help he will have it. Initial Bio 03/03/15: Mason is a very sweet little boy who arrived at UYR late last night. He has had a very rough time and we are hoping to provide him the love, safety and healing he so desperately needs. Mason was picked up by Animal Control on 2/21 and because he has a broken leg he was left to sit in a cage for a week and was then scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, a group saw how sweet he is, pulled him aside and contacted UYR with only hours to go. When he arrived at his foster home he would not eat or drink but was so grateful for a soft couch and a warm blanket that he feel asleep quickly. This morning he ate a little (thankfully because he is thin) and then had his first vet visit. It has been determined that his front left leg is fractured (most likely from a larger dog attack) and needs immediate surgery if there is any chance of saving it. Mason is also HW positive so following his surgery he will undergo treatment for this condition. Mason has a very long road ahead of him but we intend to see him through all of it as he is so deserving. With all that he has been through he still trusts both dogs and humans, that's the unconditional love that makes us want to see him happy! We keep telling him that the best part of his life is in front of him!! (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-09-00026Ivy (female)|
My name is Ivy and I was turned into the local animal shelter when my owner said they no longer had time for me. I was so sad, how could they no longer have time for me? I was very sad in the shelter, my coat was matted, my teeth hurt, and I was scared. Pawed Squad got me out of the shelter and got me groomed, boy did that fill better to get all the mats off. I went to a foster home and it felt so nice to have a warm bed and lots of hugs. I went to the vet and he said my teeth were awful, probably because I wasn't fed good food - I was probably fed table scraps and junk that wasn't good for me. The vet cleaned my teeth, pulled some really bad ones that were hurting, and now I am feeling much better! I have been spayed, current on vaccines, micro-chipped, and now I am ready for a furever home that will never leave me or ignore me again! I have a LOT of love to give, I adore people and want to be held a lot, I am only about six pounds. I mind my manners and I always go outside to potty! My foster family really loves me and they tell me they will make sure they will find a home that deserves a tiny girl as wonderful as I am. Are you that home, are you wanting a happy little girl that wags her tail all the time? Please fill out the application and lets see if you are a match for me! WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT OUR PETS, you must meet the pet in person to make sure it is a good match. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-02-13-00119Rockefeller (male)|
Rocky is a wonderful companion dog... he's a big boy at 20 pounds for a Yorkie, more in the Silky category. He came to us from a woman who had been watching him on the street for sometime and fed him. She felt so bad for Rocky... unable to take him in due to her own pets and health complications so she searched for a rescue so Rocky wouldn't be killed on the streets. He was originally FULL of mats... such a tangled mess but with a big heart ready to love. He is the sweetest dog... but has a fear of groomers. After 3 groomers he was finally finished. Rocky is heartworm positive and currently being treated with slow kill method. He is young at around a year old, so he has a lot of life yet to live. Don't let the heartworms fool you... Rocky is worth the time you will put into his care. He is looking a companion who recognizes and can care for his needs in return for a lifetime of love. If you're that person, please contact us at Beaux's Haven or find us on Facebook. Adoption fee: $150 (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-30-00305Pappy (male)|
Pappy is 10 year old male Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese blend weighing 5 pounds. He was found on the streets in very poor condition. He was covered with fleas/ticks, very dirty and hair very matted. He was barely able to walk and it appeared he had a hit problem. After being cleaned up and give food and care for about a week, he began to walk better and it became obvious it was not his hips, he was just very weak. He may have been kept in a kennel with little or no exercise to build muscle. Pappy is now dancing around the house like a normal, happy Yorkie mix, but still needs to gain some wight. He loves sleeping in a kennel at night, but during the day he curls up at my feet while I work on the computer. He gets along well with the dogs in foster care. He loves being held and will sit in your lap to watch TV. Pappy has been neutered, vaccinations up to date, has had a dental, heartworm negative, microchipped and started on heartworm/flea prevention. |Animal ID: 13-145Lexi (female)|
Update 04/19/14: Lexie is about to go back into training for her next steps. She's a sweet dog - loves adults and teenagers, but isn't good around young children with high energy. She seems to be very nervous around them and isn't on her best behavior. Lexie must be adopted into a home with only adults, and she needs to be the only dog. In this setting, she will thrive. Lexie's foster mom takes her to dog parks, but keeps her on a leash as she continues to work on her socialization skills. Update 4/3/14: Lexie is being fostered in Austin TX. She is 8 years old, 12 pounds and needs to be an only dog in a household with no children. Lexie's foster mom continues to work on her socialization skills with a trainer who reports that Lexie is one of the most clever terriers she has seen. Lexie loves to play, is housetrained (but you need to watch for her signal), is leash trained and loves to sit on your lap. Lexie is an active and loving little girl who needs a bit more work to make her a perfect companion. Please watch for progress updates on Lexie. INITIAL BIO 09/09/13: Roll out the red carpet, ladies & gents, because we definitely have a super special gem here... Introducing Lexie! Lexi is 8 yrs young and is being fostered in Texas. This sweetness of a girl is quite the entertainer! She has personality to the moon & back! I've only had her for 7 days, so I'm certain there remains much more to learn about lil' Miss. As she settles into her new surroundings & begins to express more, I will update my thoughts on her needs and what I think her best forever home would look like, but for now, here are a few things I've noticed: She LOVES to play!! Can't stress this enough! She seems to prefer the ball, but she'll fetch, (and retrieve very nicely, dropping at your feet), any toy. She definitely needs to be monitored (when outside in the hot weather) because she'll fetch endlessly, exhausting herself, & heat exhaustion can happen quick with terrible consequences. I always have water on hand when we go to the park & make her rest every 3 to 4 throws. She LOVES people, (she's an owner surrender, by the way, who reported Lexie exhibiting anxious behavior around young children, but I have yet to observe this). She walks well on a leash, is housebroken (she always goes to the door, but you must be observant of this bc it's her only que), she barks when someone is on the porch, but not otherwise. Her favor spot is on your lap and she likes to be touching you when it's time for sleeping. She is my permanent shadow at the moment. This may change as she feels more relaxed & comfortable with the changes. Her recall at the dog park is pretty good after only a week. I always have training treats to reward when she responds. Usually, however, she's either chasing her ball or begging you to chunk it, so recalling her isn't necessary. At this point, there is only one issue that I see & that is that she will probably need to be an only dog. She has exhibited dog aggression over her toy/ball, whomever's lap she's in, & on occasion, even the couch. I've seen her advance towards a dog to defend whatever territory she believed to be threatened. She seems pretty adamant with this behavior, so I'm not sure, at 8 yrs old, it'd be likely to change. Other than that, Lexie is an outstanding girl. She's a true joy & gives so much... Whoever is lucky enough to adopt her will fall completely in love! I have no doubt because I'm skipping down that road after 1 short week (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-12-16-00128Lucky Paws (male)|
NOTE: LUCKY IS NOT A 2 POUND TEACUP DOG... IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US. He is 8 pounds and a tall yorkie, he does curl up easily in your lap. Extremely faithful and wonderful... however, the main problem Lucky has is possessive aggression. He will ONLY WORK in a home with him as the only pet. He accepts people very easily and has shown no signs of aggression with people... BUT with other dogs he becomes something different and will attack with no warning. If you can accept this and are just looking for a SOLE DOG who will be your companion... Lucky is perfect. He loves his bonded human and wants to spend all his time with them. Lucky Paws was found from a post on Facebook with a woman desperate to find him help after finding him after a car accident. He had been with another dog that did not make it, laying bloody in the grass and shaking. From this kindhearted woman... who reached out for help... we raced off to assist him. After being placed with a vet overnight, it was determined that Lucky had a laceration on one leg... and the cause of his pain was a broken toe on the same foot. A very Lucky boy indeed! Being placed on supplements to enable him to return to wellness, he is now doing wonderful and jumping up and down for joy. He is 5-6 years old and a very loving little guy. Lucky Paws loves to be a lap dog and gazes about his new environment with wonder. Having no knowledge of his previous environment... we are pretty sure he was a stray on the street for a while as his skin was dry and flaking... with supplements and good diet he is improving rapidly, his fur growing back nice and silky. Someone who is looking for a forever companion would be an ideal match in either a home or small garden apartment. Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Weight: 8.2 lbs Birthdate: 12-4-2008 (approximately) Bathroom Awareness: Lucky is not housebroken... he is working hard on it and if taken out regularly he will be fine. A dog door with protected small yard would be ideal. Integration with others: He is neutered and able to play with others. However, we have not been able to integrate him with any other dog. Meals: Lucky loves to eat! Training: Lucky is very attentive and smart! He picks up words quickly and aims to please. Walks: Lucky LOVES to walk! He will go exploring on a leash and when you are ready he is more than willing to return home. Bedtime: Lucky is not thrilled with a crate but he will go in for bedtime. During the day he absolutely hates it... he prefers to be out and in his bed or wandering around with you. Adoption Fee: $150, includes current vaccinations, microchip, collar, leash, and of course... Lucky Paws! Beaux's Haven is a sanctuary for small dogs enabling them to find their forever homes. We do operate on donations and would like you to know the adoption fee is a part of helping us save the next and the next little dog. If you would like to donate more, it is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use. (Less)

You want to see flippin cute? Call to meet this little girl. Found laying along a country road with no homes in sight, one of our volunteers stopped thinking she might be dead. When he got out of the car and sat down, she lifted her head and promptly walked over to crawl in his lap and give him a kiss. We looked high and low for her family with no luck. Now she is completely vetted, kennel and housetrained, gets along well with other dogs and wants a forever home. She can and WILL climb a chain link fence...especially quick if not watched so a safe fence is required. Once she has bonded, she goes out for potty time, plays a bit and then comes back to the door to come in. She does give kisses.......... Jiggy is a sweetheart. He loves everyone and adores other dogs. He chases cats, and when we were on our walks, he went nuts over the birds and the squirrels. He will definitely take off chasing something if not on a leash. He weighs 7 pounds and is also completely trained to a doggie door. HW negative too. His back left leg is shorter than his right. The vet did x-rays and found that it is an old break - actually two old breaks - that have healed and calcified. He is not in pain and it does not slow him down one bit. He runs, jumps and plays, and will play fetch for hours. He loves tennis balls. He does use the leg, but holds it up mostly. He is very playful in general. I would recommend no small kids for him though, he's pretty tiny. (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Texas|
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
