Animal ID: 17-219Toto (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Toto is fostered in Frisco TX through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Toto is a 9 yr old, 16lb. Yorkie mix boy who came to United Yorkie Rescue in November 2017. Toto came to UYR an owner surrender due to health issues. Toto was 12 weeks old when his family took him and made him theirs; they loved him very much and have been checking in on him. Toto is a ball of fluffy energy! He loves to race through the house sliding on the hardwood floors making his foster family laugh. On one excursion outside Toto discovered the sprinkler and came back in the house (through the doggy door) dripping wet. He gets along well with his ... (Read More)foster fur sister, he follows her around and gives her tons of kisses. When she lays down, he lays down next to her with his paw on her back or his head on her back. Toto has been diagnosed with diabetes, his sugar levels are regulated through twice daily insulin shots and a healthy monitored diet. He is very good about getting his shots and starts wagging his tail as soon as he sees the insulin come out because he gets a treat after his shot. Toto is house trained and micro chipped. Very loving and affectionate, he's never bitten but his former family said he gets nervous around small children so he will need a forever home that does not have small children. Ideally a home with another dog to play with and a fenced yard, lots of love and affection, and commitment to his insulin schedule and a healthy diabetes-friendly diet would make this boy's dreams come true! If you think you could love a sweetie like Toto, please complete an adoption application at Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. (Less)

Animal ID: 17-218Ellie (female)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ellie is fostered in Gainesville TX through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Sweet little 6yr old, 8lb Ellie came into rescue in November 2017. Ellie came to United Yorkie Rescue after being found as a stray in a field and brought to a high kill shelter. She was a flea infested matted mess. She was in poor condition with mammary tumors and tumors on her back and side as well. She was brought to the vet directly from pick up at the shelter. After blood work, urinalysis and chest x-rays, we decided to leave her overnight for antibiotic care prior to surgery the following morning. Surgery took 2 %BD hrs to remove the 7 ... (Read More)large mammary tumors, followed by removal of the other tumors on her side and back, and then she was spayed and had a dental. Ellie is a testament to the typical breeding dumps, all she wants is love! She is still painful and requires full body wraps and changing during the day, but she sits patiently and lets you do her care without the slightest peep out of this angel! She will return to the vet in two weeks for suture removal then she will be ready for her forever home! Updates on this sweet loves healing progress will be posted along her journey. Ellie has some healing to do but she's already on the road to her forever home, which might just be with you! Please be sure to follow her story in 'Looking for Love' at www.unitedyorkierescue.org. Animal ID: 17-189Hank (male)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank is fostered near Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas by United Yorkie Rescue, http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Hank is an 8 yr. old, 8 lb. Yorkie boy who came into United Yorkie Rescue in September 2017. Hank has a serious injury, which was the reason his mamma surrendered him, so he can get the care he needs. Only Hank knows what happened to him. Hank's mamma said he slipped and fell, and she found him holding up his leg. She thought maybe this was a patella issues then over the weekend bruising and swelling settled in. 11/18/17: So much has been going on in Hank's life. We have reached the 8 week mark since Hank's surgery to repair his shattered ... (Read More)femur, and removal of stones that entered the bladder due to severe abusive trauma. He still has no use of his leg and is dependent on belly bands due to constant incontinence. We have met with 2 vets and have received information about what is happening with this sweet baby and have come up with a plan for a final fix'|God willing! In repairing Hanks femur with the plate, Hank has developed a Grade 5 (out 5) lameness with and a patella luxation. We need to give his femur at least 30 more days for bone growth then go in to remove the plate and perform lateral suture of the cruciate ligament (ACL) and patella repair. If necessary repair of any blockage or stricture involving the ureter will also be completed (again). In the meantime, we will see the vet and perform some tests to analyze what is going on with this baby's bladder so if surgery is needed, it will be performed all at once so as not to put this angel through another procedure. This could include a contrast study of the bladder, but if this particular test is necessary, it will also be done prior to his surgical repair to his leg and bladder issues AGAIN! Emotionally, Hank is healing well I think. He no longer cries hysterically because I have left the room and I am out of sight, he whines softly. He is truly the most loving little man. He literally rolls his little body over and pushes his body and head into you so hard because he cannot get close enough! I feel at times he must think I'm causing his pain, when this was all at the hand of a monster and all I just want for him is to be pain free and healed. Please read his full story at his page on UYR website link under 'Texas' and 'Hank', and consider making a donation toward his costly care. http://unitedyorkierescue.org/?page_id=2 Thank you! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-204Sophie (female)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sophie is fostered in Lancaster Texas through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Sophie is a very gentle girl estimated to be 8-10 years old and is 9 lbs of pure sweetness. She came to United Yorkie Rescue in October 2017. A hot matted mess, she was left at the shelter because her owners were moving. Sophie is a very shy girl but is already warming up to the offers of affection and she very quickly found herself a soft cozy spot to claim. First stop was the vet for shots, blood work and tests. On the bright side her blood work looks good and Sophie is heart worm negative; we are grateful for both. Unfortunately her little ... (Read More)mouth was full of abscessed teeth. This didn't stop her from eating a great dinner when she got home. She's scheduled to have a dental and get things taken care of. When Sophie was groomed at the shelter a large growth was discovered on her lower back. In the doctor's opinion it does not display typical signs of cancer. There's no telling how long it was been there but we made sure to take care of it right away. As I sit typing this she has come over on her own to get some love and affection, a first step in what we want for Sophie, a life that is safe and full of love. As a foster family it is our privilege to help these babies heal physically but it moves our hearts to watch them heal emotionally. *Update on this sweetie - She isn't quite ready to snuggle but loves to sit by you and have her head rubbed. She greets us at the door everyday with tail wagging and even runs a couple of happy circles! Her most exciting news is that the large growth on her back was benign and she is healing well from the surgery. She also had her dental and got to keep all but 1 tooth! Sophie is completely housebroken and will bark to go outside. As we have spent more time with Sophie it has been become clear that her hearing is impaired. We are not sure how much she can hear but it has not slowed her down, especially at dinnertime. She gets along with all of the dogs, adults and children that she has met while in our home. She will walk on a leash but prefers to go outside without and would like a fenced yard. Sophie is sweet and as she becomes more and more secure also becomes increasingly loving. Sophie would enjoy a stable home and would make a great only dog or part of a small pack. She prefers to sleep in her bed and not with her humans (at least at this time). Sophie has physically and emotionally traveled a long road in a short period of time but one look into those soulful eyes you will know that she is just a girl looking to be loved. Sophie is looking for that special someone who has the patience and the desire to go on her journey with her. We feel the reward will be great as we have already seen so much progress.     Mikey is fostered in TX through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Mikey is a 10lb. 7 yr. old Yorkie boy who came to United Yorkie Rescue in July 2017. Mikey was an abandoned little boy, how anyone could abandon this precious boy is beyond imagining, he's the sweetest soul. Mikey is showing signs of cataracts already, likely the result of poor diet and care. He's on a high protein diet in an effort to repair some damage, but we do not know if this will help. Mikey will need a home committed to providing him with high quality food for the rest of his life, something he clearly didn't get in his young years but deserves for ... Mikey loves being where ever his foster mom is and will need a home where he's not left along for long periods of time.     Poppa is fostered in Austin, Texas through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Poppa is estimated to be 12 yr. old is 6 lbs. Poppa came into rescue in September, as a rescue from a shelter. Poppa has the normal conditions that come with an aging Yorkie. He is 12+years but he looks like a puppy. Amazingly his blood work shows he only has a slight liver condition which they believe is caused by dental infection. He has arthritis in his back legs as well as some cataracts (but has peripheral vision) He can see up close and turns his head sideways so he can focus from the sides of his eyes. Deafness is about 95% but can hear ... (Read More)really loud noises. Dental work is scheduled immediately. He sleeps a lot but perks up when he smells nice warm chicken broth, he's eating 3 times a day, loves to go outside, and gets along with the other pets. Poppa would be a great companion for a home with NO YOUNG CHILDREN, as he's almost blind and is a small boy. Because of his age and normal aging conditions he would best be with a doting family that can give him the care he deserves. The burs were all over her head and face, preventing her from shutting her eyes or blinking. Thankfully, she was taken to animal control and the shelter reached out for rescue to take her. Zoey gets along with her four fur foster siblings and is no longer afraid of going out onto the grass. She's started playing with toys and the other dogs in her foster home. Her foster Mamma says everyday is like watching a flower bloom.. All Zoey wants is love now that she knows receiving love is a good thing. Zoey has learned that the other dogs in the home are fun and non threatening. Zoey clearly has health issues but UYR is spending chasing down answers for this sweet girl. Zoey has been to an eye specialist and is doing fine now with some time and healing, her sight is great. She's still getting regular medicated baths for her skin. She's taking iron daily for her anemia and has completed meds for internal parasites. She's almost done with drops for her ear infections, and as soon as her iron and liver levels have improved she'll be spayed and have a dental. She still needs updated tests on her thyroid.
