Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals are being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until he/she is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If you cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If you want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. If you can/will foster - let me know, I thank you - and the animals thank you! PS - Have you ever dreamed of helping a rescue but don't have the time, space, or just plain don't know what to do? At your pet limit? Allergic? Can't have pets where you live? Well - how about becoming a VIRTUAL FOSTER... You can choose a minimum amount of $10 a month to 'virtually' foster a homeless animal of your choice (of course, a larger sum would be happily accepted and appreciated). What does Virtual Foster mean? Our foster fur babies typically have many veterinary bills, as this is the nature of being rescued. There are also other expenses related to the ongoing care and rehab of fosters. As a Virtual Foster, your donation will go towards the vetting - medical care, and general care of the animal you have chosen. Your donation will go a LONG way in ensuring a foster dog receives the needed care and attention! In return for your kind tax-deductible donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Once your foster is adopted, you will be notified so that you can choose another animal to virtually foster. If you genuinely cannot adopt or foster, there are still other ways to help. Sponsor an adoption or medical treatment. Volunteer your time - drive for transports, rescue groups always need dogs transported from one place to the next. Donate money, our rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible. Educate - spread the word about the need for fosters. Sign up for notifications from your local rescue group or shelter, and share the animals in need on social media, there are so many ways to help - thank you, please share this post (Less)

Hey guys! My name is Spike and I am kind of shy and scared right now but warming up to my foster mom! I was found as a stray and no one came to get me so K9 Angels rescued me. I am a sweet, loving boy who loves to snuggle. I sleep great in the crate at night but I would not hate it if I got to sleep in your bed. Right now my foster mom has to use belly bands on me so I don't think I can mar k my territory. After I'm neutered I shouldn't have that issue anymore. I am really unsure what those things called stairs are right now but my foster mom is working with me to not be scared of them. I do not mind walking down them but I am scared to walk ... (Read More)from the flea bites, and she appears to have dry eyes. We need to get her a spay and dental but have to wait until her blood values look more normal. Zoey gets along with her four fur foster siblings and is no longer afraid of going out onto the grass. She's started playing with toys and the other dogs in her foster home. Her foster Mamma says everyday is like watching a flower bloom.. All Zoey wants is love now that she knows receiving love is a good thing. Zoey has learned that the other dogs in the home are fun and non threatening. Zoey clearly has health issues but UYR is spending chasing down answers for this sweet girl. She's taking iron daily for her anemia and has completed meds for internal parasites. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-07-00401Myra (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello everyone, my name is Myra. I'm a mix between a Yorkie and 'everything perfect'. My siblings and I were placed in doggy jail on bogus charges but K-9 Angels bailed us out and placed us in a foster home. Since I've been here, I've learned how SWEET life is on the outside! The toys, food, and awesome hugs are my favorite. One of the first things I learned was the correct place to potty. I now know I'm suppose to go outside, but if I can't hold it then I go on the pad in the corner. I've gotten really good at waiting for my foster mom to let me out to potty outside though. I spend all night in my crate with my brother and I'm totally fine ... (Read More)with it. I have a bed and toys and a few snacks to munch on till morning time. Midnight snacks are popular around here. I love being outside and running around the yard with my brother. I'm very active in general, so Mom thinks I may do best in a home with another dog to play with. I really enjoy going on road trips and seeing new places and meeting new people. Everyone is always telling me how cute I am, but that's just stating the obvious. My foster parents have done their part and now it's time for me to do mine. I have to find my forever home now, so here's a quick summary: I'm cute, small, lovable, almost potty trained, and an all around perfect dog looking for the right home who will provide toys, food and all the attention I crave. Take me home and see how awesome I am! Female Yorki mix DOB 5/5/17 PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Animal ID: 17-107Penny (female)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Penny is fostered in Gainesville, Tx through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Penny is a tiny little luv bug weighing in between 5 and 6 lbs. She has led an EXTREMELY sheltered life. Penny's life has been one that is quite sad. She lived the beginning of her life in a breeder hoarding situation. She was confiscated and ended up in a shelter as most do. She was later adopted by a loving man and woman. The man traveled 6mos out of the year and the woman was fighting for her life with cancer. Penny was her comfort and her life consisted of staying in bed with her mommy. Her mommy reached the point that cancer was winning the ... (Read More)battle, so she surrendered her to UYR and came into our rescue and to me. While being rescued from a breeder was a God send for Penny, living her life in the 'care giving' role also stole her from life. During that time, Penny was again sheltered from the world outside. So, everything in Penny's life is new and a total introduction to life. I adopted Penny to the most loving couple, that had adopted previously from me and the rescue. They had adopted a pair of Yorkie's and the female had died. We thought Penny was going to be the answer to their loss. In essence, it was too many changes for Penny. Although their heart was there, the changes were not meeting Penny's needs, and she was suffering because of it. She sat at the door and waited for me to return. She didn't bond with their Yorkie because what use to be a shy little guy had blossomed into this very playful bonsai, burst of energy that was precious to see, but too overwhelming for her. Penny was left alone while her new adopter worked. With her husband traveling too, Penny was left alone and not use to her owner being gone. I had her 90% housebroken and she was still 90% housebroken, but when she had accident on the adopters bed, her adopter crated her at night. Being a mill dog, this crushed me. They changed her name, which is doable for some dogs, but for this little one no. As you can see, Penny had just too many changes. In my household, I just let these babies come to me and let them work themselves into each other (the pack). All of my babies are very submissive, loving babies, so they give Penny her space and just let her come to them, and she does. She LOVES to sleep in the bed and be right there on your pillow or against your back. She is a cuddler. She wants to be with her human all the time and will follow you everywhere...there is no need to push it, this is just her. She has found that she loves squeaky toys too! She has no problem going up to any of the dogs and snatching them away lol. She is also an amazing eater!!! She has had 2 pee accidents in the house and none on my bed ever. She is the cutest little baby girl who just deserves someone who will make her their princess. So honestly, the reason for her return was that she wasn't happy, and they knew she needed someone else. We feel it was because they were trying too hard to fix Penny, and she didn't need fixing. She just needs her time to find 'Penny'. She loves everyone, men, women, dogs, cats, kids...you just have to let her come out. She is very timid at first, but her life she led kept her so sheltered. She jumps and jumps for you to pick her up but she cowers as you do that...that is typical mill dog syndrome...begs for love but probably was pushed back into a cage just to be a baby maker. My ideal home for her is someone who is home, someone without other pets initially or maybe one very submissive quiet one...because she does like my 4 here. I'm looking for someone who will just love her, show her life, and allow her to see what it is about without pushing. Help her see life and not be fearful when outside or around strange things. She is also very frightened of thunderstorms. I put her comfort shirt on her, and I also give her acepromethazine and she settles right down (oh and she loves to get under the covers too or a blanket lol). She loves car rides, she does great on a leash (its not her favorite thing but I feel they are always safer with bird of prey around), she's just a little bit of nothing but so full of love. I definitely want someone who is going to let Penny come into herself and take the time to show her life because as a prior mill dog, this baby will be such an amazing little girl. I hope I've touched base enough on who Penny is and what happened and what she needs. If you have any unanswered questions, feel free to email me again. If you think this maybe a match, please fill out the application. Please do not leave blanks, put zeros or NA if there is a question that does not apply as sometime our system thinks you are not through. Being out of state might be an issue but we can discuss this if you are the perfect home!! PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Texas
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Yorkies used to be much larger but have gradually been bred down to become a miniature breed.
