Rescue Me ID: 17-10-17-00066Hawk (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Hawk. I'm a little guy-12 lbs. I don't like all the barking and noise at the adoption center. I really need a foster home for the week. Please let me come stay at your house from Sunday afternoon til next Saturday. Fostering helps us learn all types of things; house training, getting along with other dogs and playing. But most of all, I want to sit on your lap and be loved on. Male schnauzer / yorkie mix approximately 5 years old and weighs 12 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a ... (Read More)puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Animal ID: 17-189Hank (male)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank is fostered near Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas by United Yorkie Rescue, http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Hank is an 8 yr. old, 8 lb. Yorkie boy who came into United Yorkie Rescue in September 2017. Hank has a serious injury, which was the reason his mamma surrendered him, so he can get the care he needs. Only Hank knows what happened to him. Hank's mamma said he slipped and fell, and she found him holding up his leg. She thought maybe this was a patella issues then over the weekend bruising and swelling settled in. She began calling vets for pricing to get him seen but financially she just couldn't afford the cost so she reached out to UYR. ... (Read More)Hank's foster mom met Hank and his mamma at the after hours Vet to see what was going on. Tears flowing, Hank's mamma said goodbye to her baby of 8 yrs. so UYR could get medical help going immediately. Sadly his slip/fall accident does not seem to be so. Hanks femur is shattered and broken. The treating vet said, while looking at the x-ray's:'this is extreme blunt force trauma... no slip in the tub, he may need amputation.' Sadly in rescue we see all kinds of maltreatment and conditions, but this boy's injury is heartbreaking. Hank was at the Vet a couple of nights so his pain could be managed and he could get antibiotics to fight bone infection, and medication for the swelling and bruising. Hank had surgery, 7 screws and plates were used to stabilize his leg. We pray that this baby will heal. We elected to have Hank see an Orthopedic specialist in an effort to save this leg. Two consults resulted in advice that amputation was the most likely outcome, but we believed Hank deserved what his first home failed to do for him. A day after bringing him home from surgery, he woke in the middle of the night shaking, he was unable to pee and dripping blood. He was rushed back to the ER Vet, as it was the weekend. Turned out he had stones, his bladder was throwing clots as they were too large to pass. So Hank went back in for removal of the stones. We are well over $6,000 with emergency room visits, hospitalizations specialty surgeries, and we have such a long road to go yet with recovery. Hank is not adoptable until we get him fixed up and he's had time to recover, however we're asking for prayers and good thoughts for this sweet little boy. If you want to help by sending a few dollars to support his recovery, we'd so much appreciate it. We take in pups in good and bad condition, our focus is to treat the dog and get them better if possible, and/or give them the best quality of life through good care. If you can help Hank, and want to follow his progress, please go to the following link. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mikey is fostered in TX through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Mikey is a 10lb. 7 yr. old Yorkie boy who came to United Yorkie Rescue in July 2017. Mikey was an abandoned little boy, how anyone could abandon this precious boy is beyond imagining, he's the sweetest soul. Mikey is showing signs of cataracts already, likely the result of poor diet and care. He's on a high protein diet in an effort to repair some damage, but we do not know if this will help. Mikey will need a home committed to providing him with high quality food for the rest of his life, something he clearly didn't get in his young years but deserves for ... (Read More)the remainder of his days. Mikey seems to have lived in a crate most his life, and from what we know, he was homeless for about three years. Mikey loves being where ever his foster mom is and will need a home where he's not left along for long periods of time. Mikey is fine as an only dog, he does not get along well with cats and children in his life need to older in their teens. Yorkie    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Moe is fostered in Round Rock, TX through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Moe is 14 yrs. old, and 4lbs. Moe came to United Yorkie Rescue in August, as an owner surrender after his owners weren't able to take care of him any longer. Moe never had any dental work and with much decay, infection, and bone loss he ended up losing every one of his teeth. He's quite a trooper though and didn't let it bother him. The day after surgery he bounced back, and was his loveable self. Moe is ready to find his forever home. He'll be happy when he can curl up beside you and be your very best friend. Because of his age and small size, he ... (Read More)will need a home with no small children or large dogs. He'd do best in a quieter home where he can soak up the warmth of a lap, or snuggle into a blanket. Look for more information on this sweet boy as his foster mom learns more about him! Animal ID: 17-184Poppa (male)

Yorkie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Poppa is fostered in Austin, Texas through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Poppa is estimated to be 12 yr. old is 6 lbs. Poppa came into rescue in September, as a rescue from a shelter. Poppa has the normal conditions that come with an aging Yorkie. He is 12+years but he looks like a puppy. Amazingly his blood work shows he only has a slight liver condition which they believe is caused by dental infection. He has arthritis in his back legs as well as some cataracts (but has peripheral vision) He can see up close and turns his head sideways so he can focus from the sides of his eyes. Deafness is about 95% but can hear ... (Read More)really loud noises. Dental work is scheduled immediately. He sleeps a lot but perks up when he smells nice warm chicken broth, he's eating 3 times a day, loves to go outside, and gets along with the other pets. Poppa would be a great companion for a home with NO YOUNG CHILDREN, as he's almost blind and is a small boy. Because of his age and normal aging conditions he would best be with a doting family that can give him the care he deserves. Not only does he deserve to be the king of his castle, he will need quality food and health care. To complete an application for Poppa, go to http://unitedyorkierescue.org. (Less)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Zoey is fostered in Plano Texas through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org Zoey is a sweet 10 pound, 8-year-old Yorkie girl who came to United Yorkie Rescue in June 2017 from a shelter. he was a stray in the Dallas TX area who was covered in fleas and burs. The burs were all over her head and face, preventing her from shutting her eyes or blinking. Thankfully, she was taken to animal control and the shelter reached out for rescue to take her. Zoey is flea free now, but she does have internal parasites and is also heartworm positive. She is being treated for the parasites and will begin HW treatment. She is anemic, likely ... (Read More)from the flea bites, and she appears to have dry eyes. We need to get her a spay and dental but have to wait until her blood values look more normal. Zoey gets along with her four fur foster siblings and is no longer afraid of going out onto the grass. She's started playing with toys and the other dogs in her foster home. Her foster Mamma says everyday is like watching a flower bloom.. All Zoey wants is love now that she knows receiving love is a good thing. Zoey has learned that the other dogs in the home are fun and non threatening. Zoey clearly has health issues but UYR is spending chasing down answers for this sweet girl. Zoey has been to an eye specialist and is doing fine now with some time and healing, her sight is great. She's still getting regular medicated baths for her skin. She's taking iron daily for her anemia and has completed meds for internal parasites. She's almost done with drops for her ear infections, and as soon as her iron and liver levels have improved she'll be spayed and have a dental. She still needs updated tests on her thyroid. Zoey is a very sweet girl, well behaved and gets along with other dogs. Although she has a few more medical hurdles to cross, she'll soon be ready for adoption. PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Texas
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
