Animal ID: 16-047Bo (male)

Yorkie    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bo is a 9 year-old (estimate), 11.5 pound Yorkie boy being fostered near Murfreesboro TN. His adoption fee is $200 and includes all vetting, dental, microchipping, etc. All adoptions through United Yorkie Rescue require a Vet Reference, Personal References and a home visit. You can apply to adopt Bo here: Bo came to UYR in bad shape. He tested positive for heartworms, had a mouth full of infected teeth, skin infections, ear infections, and is about two pounds overweight. Bo has since resolved all of his infections, had his teeth cleaned and several pulled. Bo is also well into ... (Read More)his heartworm treatment and now has the hardest part of it behind him. His injections are finished and he is on activity restriction while the medicine works its magic to kill the heartworms that have invaded his heart. Bo is loving the extra attention from his foster Mom and has even started his own Facebook Page called Bo the Rescue Dog! Bo is a fun and funny little guy. He has a very adorable look about him due to his permanent 'tongue out' grin and his perpetually messy hair. Bo has lost all of his front teeth due to neglect but that does not seem to affect him as he can still eat and chew just fine. He likes his hair 'messy' and every time you brush it flat he will rub it with his paw to make it stand up again LOL. He likes the 'spiked' look! He loves to be close to his person as in jammed up next to them as tight as his fat little body can get. However, he does not give kisses and if you try to catch him he will play 'hard to get' and make you chase him around the house like a little piglet. Once you stop he will stop too and then he will approach you. This is one of Bo's little 'catch me' games. He makes his foster Mom and Dad laugh every day. His little quirks and quirkiness will make everyone who meets him fall in love. He LOVES food and his very food motivated. He is overweight and needs to lose a pound or two but that is very challenging to do while he is on a very restricted activity. He is on a reduced calorie diet but so far his weight remains the same. We are hopeful that when he is off of his activity restriction that exercise will help. For now, Bo and his foster Mom are happy to be maintaining his current weight. Bo is a very 'chill' dog. He does not require a lot of stimulation or activity, he is happy to just go with the flow and hang out with his human. He travels well in the car and loves to go out in the RV with his foster Mom and Dad. He is okay with other dogs and cats but would also be fine as an only dog. Bo is not housetrained but he will go outside if taken very frequently. If not, well Bo will go wherever he wants. We will be working on this in his foster home. We think Bo will be ready for adoption around the end of May. We are taking applications for him already. He will still need to have one final heartworm test in a few months just to make sure everything is clear but we feel that if all goes well over the next month he can go ahead and find his new forever person. If you think you might be a great match for adorable quirky Bo, then apply to adopt him or email his foster mom at for more information. (Less)

Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in South Dakota if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
