Rescue Me ID: 15-05-17-00565Raiden (male)

Yorkie

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Raiden! Breed: Yorkie Gender: Male Adoption Fee: $125 Date into Rescue: 4/24/2015 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/too many to care for Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 5.8 lbs Height: Est 6' at shoulder **Note that Raiden is one of 27 dogs released to animal control by a breeder who, in her 80's, recognized that she could no longer care for this many animals. As we get to know Raiden and his friends, we'll add more personality description to this file. For our first write ups, I am telling you what we know so far medically. Raiden is up for adoption. Please note ... (Read More)that all of these dogs are initially shy but warm up quickly. Please note that with very rare exception, our vet would not try to guess an age on these dogs because of their very poor condition. Raiden has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned (and most removed). He has very bad skin from flea allergy dermatitis but that will correct itself with clean conditions and regular grooming. He does not get along well with other male dogs however now that he has been neutered, we're going to see how he does in about 30 days. Often neutering will pleasantly alter personalities that are edgy. He is, after all, a terrier. He is living in our office with 10 other happy dogs both male and female and all slightly larger than he is. He does well with this group. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-16-00314Zesty (female)

Yorkie    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Zesty! Breed: Yorkie Gender: Female Adoption Fee: $200 Date into Rescue: 3/25/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Zesty has demodex mange, currently controlled by medication Weight: Est '11 Height: Est ' 10 at the shoulder What is my personality like? Shy shy shy. Zesty was born at a breeder's house in South Carolina. She was destined to become a mama and she would have a few litters and then somewhere between 3 and 5 years old she would come to CPR to find a home. We partner with many breeders like this to place the mama's and it works ... (Read More)well for everyone. But with Zesty, it did not work out that way. When she went into heat and boys started approaching her she was TERRIFIED. She promptly developed a condition called demodex mange or stress mange. This type of mange is not contagious to other dogs or humans but causes many of the same symptoms - hair loss and sores on the skin. Once spayed and with some medication for her condition, Zesty improved tremendously. Zesty's medicine is ivomec - the same product that heartworm preventatives use. She does not need monthly heartworm medication because she takes this. Zesty needs regular vet checks for life to keep her demodex under control and she needs a totally stress free environment. Her best bet would be with one or two other very laid back dogs that will leave her in peace or engage in gentle play. Other dogs, sensing Zesty's nervousness, will sometimes pick on her. In her current group everyone accepts her and she is thriving under that kind of doggie friendship. Who I am seeking: Zesty will be a project for someone. Her foster mom still can't touch Zesty at all unless she corners her. Zesty needs a patient human who will slowly earn her trust. How I act when I first meet new people: She runs away. Age: 12/2/2012 actual birthday We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Please note - we do not ship dogs. Please note that all of these dogs are initially shy but warm up quickly. Bunnie has been spayed and had her teeth cleaned (and most removed). She has a cataract in her left that will need to be looked at by a surgeon to see if it can be removed. If not adopted shortly, CPR will be fundraising to have this quality of life procedure done. Please note that Bunnie had mammary tumors removed during her spay. Because our doctor felt they were benign based on his experience, he did not opt to send out for further testing. For recovery she was in a foster home for approximately two weeks and she did very well. She got along with many other dogs she had never met and was asking for treats and for affection after just a few days. Animal ID: #14-031Gibbs (FL) (male)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

5/20/15: Gibbs is a sweet 7 1/2 year old 6 pound little boy. He is being fostered in Mount Pleasant, SC. Gibbs has been with his foster parents for a while and he has been a veterinary challenge. He will be evaluated by a new specialist soon. We expect to have a more detailed plan for this special needs guy. %BD'%BD%BD Gibbs%BD'%BD'%BD%BD really %BD'%BD%BDneeds your help with his vet expenses, and hopes you will consider helping him so we can find a solution to his problems. As soon as he has a plan for his care, he will be ready to find his furever home. 03-26-15 Gibbs is now 7 1/2 years old and weighs a perfect ... (Read More)6.2 lbs; he is currently in SC, but will soon be moving to a new foster home in Florida. Gibbs had a lot to say recently: I recently had some tests on my recurrent urinary tract infections; the results showed a totally new infection that the vets say can be fixed. I started new meds today and I hope this fixes the problem. The other meds I am taking seem to have corrected the bladder stone problem. Then finally my diarrhea problem can also be cured as soon as I am free of all infections. Hopefully we get some good news in the next two weeks. Now that you have updated on my medical issues, let's move on to happier things. Last week after a whole lot of rain I was in the back yard just trolling for something to chase when I stepped into this mud puddle. It was so cool playing in this gooey black mud. Rolling around and trying to get to a ball that was in the middle of the puddle. Then I spotted a squirrel on the other side of the yard and went after it. This took me across the deck and it seems I left a trail of mud all over it. Foster mom was not happy. She got out the hose and washed me off mumbling something to the tune of 'typical boy'. The water was cold, not like the nice warm baths I normally get. She sure was upset. But just a little while later, I was all snuggled up on her lap. She still loves me. On a final note....... for some reason the medical expenses trying to get me all fixed up and ready for adoption far outweigh the donations. I thought y'all loved me. (you know it's hard not to) . Please please please help by hitting the YouCaring link here........... Some people commented that at this rate I am valued at $725 a pound. Wow! Note from Foster Mom: Wouldn't you want a little guy that is so valuable and special in your life? Please fill out an adoption application. And don't forget to donate to Gibbs' care. He has had a hard road with a lot of expense, but with your help, UYR can continue to work to make him a very healthy pup. Update 12-13-14: Hello My name is Gibbs. I am 7 years old and weigh 6.2 lbs. I am being fostered in Charleston, SC. We are still fighting my urinary tract infection (UTI). I started some new meds today so let's see what happens. I will go 2 weeks on these pills and get tested again, Oh joy. Y'all know you can fill out an application for the most handsome Yorkie alive and my Foster mom will keep it on file so when I am all fixed up you will be able to be graced with my presence as your forever Yorkie. You will be so lucky to have me. I love to just sit on your lap and be loved. You know what just happened in our house the other day. This tree just sprouted up overnight in our living room. It so pretty all decorated up with lights and everything. You don't suppose they planted that tree for me to relieve myself on do you. I don't think I will try as the consequences could put a pain on my behind area. Just a thought. I hope everybody has a nice and healthy Christmas and maybe next year I could be checking out your Christmas tree. Sir Gibbs (Less)

Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
