Rescue Me ID: 17-08-22-00184Duff (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 4/24/2017 Reason for being in rescue: SC county shelter, abandoned. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 10 lbs Height: about 9' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No although he enjoys playing outside in the grass and sunshine with his people. Duff is too small to ever be left alone outside. He is small enough to be picked up by a bird of prey and he is cute enough and friendly enough to be stolen. What kind of home would be best for me? I would be in a home with a playful friendly dog to cuddle and play with. I would enjoy children, my caregiver has a ... (Read More)4 year old dog whisperer daughter who he loves to play with. (Please note this is a very dog savvy child). I enjoy being loved on but I can also hang with my canine buddy or even by himself if I get a toy. I would also be good for a work at home person because I'm a quiet dog. What is my personality like? 'When we first met Duff I honestly was concerned he would be with us for months. Duff spent 10 days at our local shelter snarling and snapping at everyone but one worker who could handle him. I brought him home and within 2 hours he was snuggling and giving kisses to his primary caregiver.' I am now a funny an happy boy with a lot of love to give and hugs and kisses too! I am spunky and all about being where you are! I get along great with everyone and I lovvveee playing with my squeaky toys. How do I act when I first meet new people? I may bark a bit but I loves treats and can be bribed. Bring Pupperoni . It's my favorite! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 4/24/2013 (Less)

Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
