Rescue Me ID: 15-03-28-00136Atticus (male)
Meet Atticus! Breed: Terrier/yorkie Gender: Male Adoption Fee: 125 Date into Rescue: 3/11/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Cruelty Case, pulled from shelter Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Needs a dental cleaning Weight: Est 13 Height: Est 12-13' What is my personality like? Atticus is a sweet, loving dog who desperately needs a new life. For legal reasons, we can not disclose information about his history, all we can say is that he was not treated nicely and he needs a second chance to be with a loving human. Despite his past, he is still sweet, attentive, affectionate and happy. His tail wags non-stop and he loves people of all shapes and sizes. Atticus has a 'habit' of circling a lot. He will circle, big circles and small circles - even when he has a lot of space to roam. He does not know how to go up stairs or how to get off of the couch if you put him on it. He is a total love with a little bit of separation anxiety. He needs to be adopted by someone who will be home with him most of the time. Atticus also loves other dogs and would be an excellent companion to your current pet! Who I am seeking: Age: 4 years old Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! How I act when I first meet new people: Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-18-00694Foxy & Precious (female)
Foxy (11 years) and Precious (12 years) are little Yorkies surrendered to a shelter. Foxy weighs 4 lbs and Precious weighs 7 lbs and is considered obese according to her vet report. She needs to lose a couple of pounds but at least she is a good eater! Both of these lovely ladies are missing teeth and their remaining teeth will probably end up being pulled at their next dental. They eat soft food well. When we got them home, they spent the entire evening from 4 in the afternoon until the next morning sleeping on the most comfortable dog bed in the house. You can just see the relief in their little faces. Finally, a stress free nap after being in a shelter since January. How scary for these little babies! Both of these lovely girls are fully vetted. Foxy does have mammary masses and was surrendered to the shelter with mastitis and all of that has cleared up, but we will be getting a mass biopsied although it really doesn't matter too much at her age, as long as she is happy and loved! We ARE looking for forever homes for these girls. They deserve a family who will cherish their every day. We hope a family steps forward for Foxy and Precious like one did for Snowey and Angel, our senior bichons. These girls deserve that too. I just couldn't leave them there in a shelter and I know that even if they aren't adopted, at least we can give them a place to rest until it is time to leave this world. We do hope they find a family that doesn't have so many to care for so that they can get devoted time and thoroughly loved. Adoption fee is $150/$300 for the pair to assist with medical care. More photos and an adoption application can be found at our website www.forbellessake.org or on our Facebook page. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-08-00168Leopold (male)
Meet Leopold! He is an adorable 4 year old designer mix breed called a Dorkie (Dachshund and Yorkie mix:) Leopold found his way to us because he started escaping from his dog pen. He was kept outside all the time because he would mark in the house but he was NOT neutered which normally cures these behaviors. He also misses his people when they leave and likes to bark if left alone for long periods of time. With this said, he will be a great fit for someone who is home a lot. Leopold will be neutered and vetted tomorrow, his adoption fee is $200. If you would like to adopt this sweet boy, please fill out an application here, https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=YSHTKGDY (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-16-00584Igor (male)
2/16/15 This dog needs to be re-homed immediately, before my husband makes me take to shelter. He is very protective of our 10 year old son and has snapped recently at our 3 year old daughter. Therefore he would need to go to someone that does not have kids. He does fine with other animals (really not interested, other than typical play and chasing). He is house trained, but does not like to be crated.

Animal ID: #14-031Gibbs (FL) (male)
03-26-15 Gibbs is now 7 1/2 years old and weighs a perfect 6.2 lbs; he is currently in SC, but will soon be moving to a new foster home in Florida. Gibbs had a lot to say recently: I recently had some tests on my recurrent urinary tract infections; the results showed a totally new infection that the vets say can be fixed. I started new meds today and I hope this fixes the problem. The other meds I am taking seem to have corrected the bladder stone problem. Then finally my diarrhea problem can also be cured as soon as I am free of all infections. Hopefully we get some good news in the next two weeks. Now that you have updated on my medical issues, let's move on to happier things. Last week after a whole lot of rain I was in the back yard just trolling for something to chase when I stepped into this mud puddle. It was so cool playing in this gooey black mud. Rolling around and trying to get to a ball that was in the middle of the puddle. Then I spotted a squirrel on the other side of the yard and went after it. This took me across the deck and it seems I left a trail of mud all over it. Foster mom was not happy. She got out the hose and washed me off mumbling something to the tune of 'typical boy'. The water was cold, not like the nice warm baths I normally get. She sure was upset. But just a little while later, I was all snuggled up on her lap. She still loves me. On a final note....... for some reason the medical expenses trying to get me all fixed up and ready for adoption far outweigh the donations. I thought y'all loved me. (you know it's hard not to) . Please please please help by hitting the YouCaring link here........... Some people commented that at this rate I am valued at $725 a pound. Wow! Note from Foster Mom: Wouldn't you want a little guy that is so valuable and special in your life? Please fill out an adoption application. And don't forget to donate to Gibbs' care. He has had a hard road with a lot of expense, but with your help, UYR can continue to work to make him a very healthy pup. Update 12-13-14: Hello My name is Gibbs. I am 7 years old and weigh 6.2 lbs. I am being fostered in Charleston, SC. We are still fighting my urinary tract infection (UTI). I started some new meds today so let's see what happens. I will go 2 weeks on these pills and get tested again, Oh joy. Y'all know you can fill out an application for the most handsome Yorkie alive and my Foster mom will keep it on file so when I am all fixed up you will be able to be graced with my presence as your forever Yorkie. You will be so lucky to have me. I love to just sit on your lap and be loved. You know what just happened in our house the other day. This tree just sprouted up overnight in our living room. It so pretty all decorated up with lights and everything. You don't suppose they planted that tree for me to relieve myself on do you. I don't think I will try as the consequences could put a pain on my behind area. Just a thought. I hope everybody has a nice and healthy Christmas and maybe next year I could be checking out your Christmas tree. Sir Gibbs (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-23-00162Colby (male)
Colby! Breed: yorkie poo Gender: male Adoption Fee: $200 Date into Rescue: 8/22/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 10 lbs Height: Est 9' Why am I with a rescue? Carolina Poodle Rescue saved 21 poodle mixes from Washington NC. It started with a call from a eastern NC shelter. 7 little babies, poodle mixes, brought in by a local who was being threatened by DSS to take her grandchildren out of her home if conditions didn't improve. 7 went to the shelter. 7 were called in to us. It ended with 21 little souls all together - most of them under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic mange on every single one of them - and some have demodex mange. Colby is one with demodex. He will need a lifetime of care for this condition but it is not contagious to other dogs or to humans. Revolution works well as a treatment and since all dogs need heartworm and flea/tick preventative anyway, Revolution is the way to go. What is my personality like? Colby is now fully vetted and on the search for his forever home. He is a little shy at first and definitely needs to be adopted to someone who has at least one other dog. He loves other animals and would thrive best in a home where he could learn from an older brother or sister. Colby is a real sweet heart! Who I am seeking: Someone who will love me Age: est 1 year 6 months Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
