Rescue Me ID: 14-10-23-00089Malibu (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Vaccinations Current

Meet Malibu! Breed: yorkie poo Gender: Female Adoption Fee: $270 Date into Rescue: 8/22/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 7lbs Height: Very small Why am I with a rescue? Carolina Poodle Rescue saved 21 poodle mixes from Washington NC. It started with a call from a eastern NC shelter. 7 little babies, poodle mixes, brought in by a local who was being threatened by DSS to take her grandchildren out of her home if conditions didn't improve. 7 went to the shelter. 7 were called in to us. It ended with 21 little souls all together - most ... (Read More)of them under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic AND demodex mange. On every single one of them. What is my personality like? Malibu is now healthy and ready to find her forever home! Her hair has grown back (new pictures coming soon), and her personality is beginning to shine like the diamond that she is! Malibu is very puppy-like in behavior. She will require some basic training, as she has never known 'home life' before. She is very well crate trained and LOVES other dogs. Malibu must be adopted to a family who has at least one other dog. Age: est 1 year Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Rescue Me ID: 14-10-18-00477Mojo (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

All about me! Name: Mojo Breed: yorkie Age: est 10 years Height: est 8 inches Weight: about 7 lbs Good with dogs? yes Good with men? loves 'em Good with women? loves 'em House trained? working on it Crate trained? yes Leash trained? yes Must have fenced in yard? no Foster home is: Debi in Sanford, NC Adoption fee: $169.00 Date into rescue: 10/22/13 Why am I with a rescue group? Mojo was released to the Greenville shelter by his owners after they could no longer afford to care for him. It is very obvious that he was once a beloved companion, as he is very friendly and affectionate. He knows how to sit in a lap, and absolutely ... (Read More)enjoys it! He is very curious and interested in new things, he sniffs around and checks out all of his surroundings. He doesn't immediately show attention to potential adopters, but given some time he warms up and becomes your best friend. Mojo is not house trained, but he is doing much better in his foster home. He does well with a belly band, but needs to continue with his house training. This really is his only flaw. He is a perfectly behaved little gentleman in every other aspect. He has recently had a dental done on his teeth, and is as far as we know, healthy. Update 3/18/14: Mojo went to the Atlanta Pet Fair on March the 8-9th. He came down the 8th, spent the night at a voulnteers house and went to the rescue rodeo the 9th. On Saturday him and his friends that were participating in the pet fair were unloaded into the volunteers back yard. They romped and played until it was time to go inside and sleep for the night. Everyone woke up before the rooster crowed and headed over to the Hilton hotel to get ready for the rodeo. Mojo went back to get a bath and get started on grooming around 8 AM, they were finished around 1. After judging before the groomer could even get him off the table people were coming up and asking how to adopt him. Mojo was a hit at the pet fair, and had a wonderful time. Animal ID: #14-037Ginger (female)

Yorkie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Ginger and I am 12+ years old. I currently weigh in at a whopping 4.9 Lbs. I want you to know that that is quite an accomplishment as I weighed 2.9 Lbs. when I got to my foster home I am being fostered in Mt. Pleasant, SC. I am jumping ahead a little, so let me start from the beginning. I didn't write sooner because I felt so bad and didn't look too good either ~ I think you could call me a hot mess. I was rescued from a kill shelter in NC. My mom of many years had gotten very sick and was not taking very good care of me. Her family brought me to the shelter because they knew I would die if I stayed at home. I was not being ... (Read More)fed because mom wasn't thinking straight and she would forget to feed me. I can't see because of cataracts; oh, I can't hear very well either. I only have one tooth, so the vets really didn't know how old I am, but they said 12+. In my former home, I lost most of my hair and could hardly stand. It was a very scary time for me. Well moving forward........ after 8 of the 10 days I had left to live in the shelter, my foster parents came all the way from SC to rescue me. I was so upset I would not let anyone hold me, but I would sometimes let them pet me before I would move away. I had such a headache from bouncing off the walls learning my way around my new home. I did discover my bed and now that is my favorite spot. They feed me twice a day and give me almost anything I want. Foster Mom says I am a little pig and will eat anything she puts down or anything I can steal from my 4 brothers and sisters. I am up to almost 5 lbs. and I feel great now. My hair is coming back and I get around the house much better, but will only let mom hold me for a short while. It's hard to trust people when you have had such a tough time in the past. Well I have been vetted completely and had my one tooth polished (joke). Now all I need is a new home to be loved and live out the rest of my life. Please contact my Foster Mom for more information on how you can be the lucky one to adopt me. (Less)

On every single one of them. SCARLET IS NOW READY FOR ADOPTION! She is sweet and playful - an can hang in there with her two rowdy brothers! She loves other dogs and would thrive best in a home that has other animals. Scarlet particularly likes our resident cat, Rusty! She is ready for her forever family! Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this critera, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right. Please note - we do not ship dogs. It ended with 21 little souls all together - most of them ... (Read More)under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic AND demodex mange. On every single one of them. What is my personality like? Barley is sweet and affectionate. He does have cataracts that will need to be assessed, however his lack of vision does not slow him down. Because Barley has cataracts, he will not be available for a little while. Dates of availability for him will be coming soon. Who I am seeking: Age: est 1 year Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Rescue Me ID: 14-10-18-00236Marco (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Marco! Breed: yorkshire terrier mix Gender: male Adoption Fee: $125 Date into Rescue: 8/5/14 Reason for being in rescue: stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? cuddles and hugs every day Weight: Est 5lbs Height: Est 8' What is my personality like? This young lad is a total CUDDLE-BUG! He loves to snuggle in your arms and be held. He's definitely a lap doggie. He's very sweet, calm, submissive, loving, and happy. He's good with other dogs and enjoys their company. He even knows how to beg. He's approximately 5 pounds, a tiny little squirt whose heart is 4 of those 5 lbs. Marco loves to ... (Read More)play and he will do so with other dogs large and small. Funniest thing we see is Marco rolling around on his Labbie friend's neck and chewing on his ear. Fortunately Mack, the Lab, doesn't mind. Marco and Jada play non-stop and are often found flying around their yard... you chase me and I'll chase you is the game, and it never seems to get old. Marco is getting better about his crate training but he doesn't like his crate. He needs work with house training . He is finally staying clean and dry in his crate at night, so house training should progress better now. Marco was a shelter favorite, and when it came time to end his life, the staff just kept moving him around and pretending it just wasn't time. He was hidden like this for almost a month before we found out about him, and we said come to us, you won't have to hide anymore. Who I am seeking: Marco would do well in many settings. He will not be placed with very young children (under about 9 years old) because he is so very tiny he could be mistaken for a toy. He likes men and women equally and would love another dog in his home to play with. Age: est 2 years old Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in South Carolina
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
