Yorkie    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Dirty Gurdy! She was hanging out in a business parking lot for a few days, begging anyone to take her home. She was a dirty, matted mess, and on one of the coldest nights, a couple drove by and saw she was still waiting for a savior in the parking lot, all huddled up and shaking. They were that savior and stopped and picked her up. She then came to rescue, got a bath to get rid if the dirty, was treated for fleas, combed out, nails trimmed, and a visit to the vet. Gurdy is no longer dirty, but is still homeless and would love to be yours. Gurdy is 1 year old, heartworm negative, current on all vaccinations, and has a spay appointment ... (Read More)for Dec 3rd. She is great with other dogs, wonderful with children, takes treats so sweetly, leash trained, seems to be crate trained or housetrained but we can never guarantee that, as well as was very interested in the cats, but not aggressive at all. This little girl is perfect! Gurdy is a little Yorkie who weighed in at 13 lbs. Adoption fee is $150 to assist with medical expenses and help save another dog in need. No Weight: Est 10LBS Height: Est 10'S What is my personality like? Rachel has the best personality - she gets a full 10 out of 10. She is outgoing, friendly, affectionate and such a fun dog to be around. Rachel loves everyone that she meets - and has attended multiple events for CPR. She really is a star. Rachel is very lightly heartworm positive - and we currently have her on the slow kill method. This method consists simply of giving ... (Read More)her a heart worm preventative once a month. It may take up to a year, but this will eventually kill the worms. Rachel is sweet, rides well in a car and is very clean in her crate. She says that leashes aren't for her, she'd prefer to just prance alongside you (although we definitely recommend using a leash!!). Fences? No problem, she can climb right over them. She loves people and loves to be with everyone all the time. Age: est 1 years old Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! How I act when I first meet new people: Please note - we do not ship dogs. Yorkie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: 10-26-2014 Hi, my name is Gibbs. I am approximately 7 years old and currently weigh 6.5 lbs. I am being fostered in Mount Pleasant SC (Charleston). As you can see by my increased weight, I am feeling pretty good. I have filled out those bony ribs I had and can chase squirrels with the best of them. I still have some urinary tract infection (UTI) problems that seem to be stumping the vets. They have done some additional testing and I will be getting another shot that they hope will work on my UTI. I also will get a new diet then ~ I hope it is good. They have figured out what is causing the occasional diarrhea, but said they ... (Read More)can't treat it until my UTI is cleared up. None of this stuff is slowing me down. I love to run and play with the other dogs in the house, bark at the neighbors' dogs and, best of all, chase squirrels. The other day a squirrel was sitting on the top of the fence just out of my reach. I barked and barked, but he just sat there and smiled at me ~ I thought that was mean'|'|. We have some lab dogs on each side of our back yard. They pick on me all the time. One will bark like he wants to play and I run to that fence. Just when I get there, the other one starts to bark and I run over there. Then they do it again. After they do this a couple of times I get tired and give up. It's just not fair. Sorry it's been so long since I checked in ~ I promise I will update everyone more often. Sir Gibbs (Less)

Mojo was released to the Greenville shelter by his owners after they could no longer afford to care for him. It is very obvious that he was once a beloved companion, as he is very friendly and affectionate. He knows how to sit in a lap, and absolutely ... (Read More)enjoys it! He is very curious and interested in new things, he sniffs around and checks out all of his surroundings. He doesn't immediately show attention to potential adopters, but given some time he warms up and becomes your best friend. Mojo is not house trained, but he is doing much better in his foster home. He does well with a belly band, but needs to continue with his house training. This really is his only flaw. He is a perfectly behaved little gentleman in every other aspect. He has recently had a dental done on his teeth, and is as far as we know, healthy. Update 3/18/14: Mojo went to the Atlanta Pet Fair on March the 8-9th. He came down the 8th, spent the night at a voulnteers house and went to the rescue rodeo the 9th. On Saturday him and his friends that were participating in the pet fair were unloaded into the volunteers back yard. They romped and played until it was time to go inside and sleep for the night. Everyone woke up before the rooster crowed and headed over to the Hilton hotel to get ready for the rodeo. Mojo went back to get a bath and get started on grooming around 8 AM, they were finished around 1. After judging before the groomer could even get him off the table people were coming up and asking how to adopt him. Mojo was a hit at the pet fair, and had a wonderful time. I have no problems hearing foster mom fixing my dinner and I bark to let her know I am standing right below her. I have been having problems with my right eye for quite a few weeks. Dr. Cook has been trying to get the infection cured and the pressure down with drops. The infection went away but the pressure in my eye was really high and it hurt. When I woke up, I heard Dr. Cook telling Foster Dad that everything went fine, that the shot they gave me in my eye will lower the pressure and I should be fine. What is this shot in my eye thing? I sure am happy I was sleeping, that sounds awful. Tonight I am feeling better and my eye doesn't hurt and I got a good meal. I am back playing with all the other dogs in the house and all is back to normal. I promise I will not wait so long to talk to Y'all but it has been a bad couple of months for me. If there is anyone out there that is looking for a sweet old lady to keep them company, Just whistle and I will come running. Ginger XOXOXO (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-18-00415Sam (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sam! Breed: yorkie poo Gender: male Adoption Fee: $250 Date into Rescue: 8/22/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 15lbs Height: Est ' 14 inches Why am I with a rescue? Carolina Poodle Rescue saved 21 poodle mixes from Washington NC. It started with a call from a eastern NC shelter. 7 little babies, poodle mixes, brought in by a local who was being threatened by DSS to take her grandchildren out of her home if conditions didn't improve. 7 went to the shelter. 7 were called in to us. It ended with 21 little souls all together - ... (Read More)most of them under a year - being picked up by CPR after we got directly in touch with the owner and offered our services. 21 doggies were transported to a vet to be checked. Ragged and stinking, hair loss and scabs and fleas and dirt, it was hard to tell what was going on until a professional took a look. Diagnosis? Sarcoptic AND demodex mange. On every single one of them. What is my personality like? Sam has made a drastic behavior improvement since he first came to us. When he first arrived, we thought his vision was bad, as his eyes were very cloudy. As his health improved, so did his eyes - completely! They are as clear as the sky now. He was also one of shyest of them all. Sam would hide under chairs, tables, blankets anything he could find. It took us several minutes to catch him every single day. Now he has learned to trust us and wants to be our best friend! He is a sweet and quiet dog! Age: est between 10 months and 3 years Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! How I act when I first meet new people: Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Brad keeps his crate clean - we are not sure of his house training, he has never been in a house before. Brad had his very first outing and was featured on Fox 21. He did get car sick on the way there, but did very well in a car. He laid in the back seat calm and quiet the whole way. It was also his first time walking on a leash. He does best on a leash if there is another dog around. He will follow the other dog. Brad met new people at the studio and was a perfect gentleman with them!     Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
