Rescue Me ID: 15-10-02-00663Chopper (male)
Chopper is a 10 yr old Yorkie. His beloved Mom is terribly sick with cancer and sadly cannot adequately care for him any longer. He has lived his entire life with his mom and a fur-brother. He is being left alone in his apartment each time his mom is admitted to the hospital. The family is keeping the dogs fed, but they are not able to go out, and of course they are using the bathroom inside. This is not good for the dogs or their mom. Chopper has a problem with one of his eyes, and needs drops in it daily. He does not like the drops. He is very loving to people, and has never been around cats. Choppers mom is VERY upset about having to regime him, but the rest of the family all have large dogs that are not tolerant of small dogs. This is a sad situation, and we will need references for any potential adopters. A great rescue group would be awesome. (Less)

Animal ID: BusterYorkieBuster (male)
Buster is a neutered male between 5 and 6 years old. He is currently in a household of 4 dogs and is having some dominance issues. Buster would be great in a home with no other dogs. He is affectionate, loves sitting in your lap and is great on a leash.

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-16-00522Smokey (male)
Meet our gentleman Mister Smokey. He is about 6-8 years old and was found as a stray. He used to have a family that cared for him because he knows some commands, he rides great in the car and is very well behaved and laid back. He would make a perfect companion dog for an older couple. Poor Smokey needs to get fatten up and his teeth will need some attention as well.Being on your own can be rough on a little dog like this and he so much deserves to live the rest of his life loved and pampered. He went to the vet for a check up and he was heartworm negative, he received his shots and dewormer. He will need to get neutered as well. He does well with going outside to do his business , however he likes to mark in the house. Neutering should take care of that. Vet reference or home visit will be conducted before application can be approved. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-09-00597Boldt (male)
Boldt was given up by his owner with no backward glance. He's sweet but sometimes shows his alpha side with other males so we will only place him in a home with female dogs or as an only fur-kid. He is a friendly boy, enjoys snuggling with his human or playing with other female dogs. He is estimated to be about 2-3 years of age, weighs 6 1/2 lbs. He's neutered, microchipped, had a dental cleaning and a couple of retained baby teeth were pulled. He had to be shaved down due to matting and was a champ on the grooming table. His breed is a chihuahua/yorkie with an adoption fee of $385. His mom is also available for adoption--Dotti, a long haired chihuahua. A visit can be scheduled with an application on file. Go to www.scratchrescue.petfinder.com, click on application link in upper right corner and fill out the on-line application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-03-00130Roxy (female)
Roxy is a very loving and special animal, once she trusts you. 'One in a million'. Roxy was a surrender after she could no longer produce as the breeder desired. 8 lbs. We think Roxy is 2 years old, is up to date on all vaccinations, micro chipped, spayed, and dental cleaning. Roxy is a wired hair and has sensitive skin. Would love to see her go to a home also with a fenced yard where she can run out her some of her energy. She needs a home that will work with her and give her the love and understanding she needs. Also needs to be introduce to new people slowly. She warmed up to her foster family nicely, but still has significant stranger anxiety. She needs a dog-savvy adopter who is willing to work on and/or manage her stranger anxiety. A home without children is recommended. A home where she can be reliably be segregated from visitors is also recommended. (or a home with few visitors) For more info or application email us. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-13-00103Kirby (male)
Meet Kirby! This adorable little guy is one of the sweetest little babies you'll ever meet. He is a little 6 lb yorkie and absolutely adorable. He is good with other dogs as well as people. He would do well with children but we prefer older children due to his tiny size. He is house trained and rides well in a car. He is a snuggler, very gentle and easy going. He loves to run and play in the yard so we are requiring a home with a fenced in yard. Little Kirby is between 7-8 years young. Kirby's adoption fee is $200. This covers all of his vaccinations, rabies, microchip, and neuter. If you are interested in adopting little Kirby please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an application. (Less)

Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
