Rescue Me ID: 17-08-08-00503Scooby (male)

Yorkie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Something in my heart told me I must have you.' Words from Frank Sinatra's Strangers in The Night. Did you know that Scooby Doo got his name from this song? Well our Scooby isn't named for Scooby Doo but the words to the song make perfect sense for this loveable little man. He is a 6 pound, 10-year-old Yorkie. He is utterly adorable as he is one of those Yorkies with floppy ears, which is a very pretty frame for his face and makes him look like a puppy. While he is super cute with his fur currently groomed short, when he first came in his coat was quite long, almost covering his feet. If someone wanted to provide the care for it, he ... (Read More)could be kept long and it would be beautiful. His coloring is a pretty blue and gold. Scooby would not do well in a busy household with small children. He must always be on leash or in a very securely fenced yard as he is extremely reactive to moving vehicles (including bikes) and it's possible that if he had the opportunity he would chase them. This guy is the ultimate low-key cuddle-bug (with the exception of the above moving vehicles). He is happiest when he is napping on someone. He LOVES to be with his people, but can also be content when he isn't. He is crate trained, leash trained, house trained but will also use a pee pad), polite, and doesn't bark just to bark (will alert bark and will often bark when he REALLY has to go out to potty). Scooby has a gentle personality, doesn't require a lot of exercise but loves to go for walks. He has a charming habit of doing multiple twirls when we are getting ready to go outside- so cute! He isn't much of a toy guy, but loves to chew on small bully sticks and such. Scooby does have dry eye in his left eye (makes no tears at all) so he will need drops in that eye for the remainder of his life. (he is very good about allowing you to put the meds in). While this sweet dog is a senior at 10, he still has a ton of walks, snuggles and love in him for his new family. His adoption fee is $275. He is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and current of flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-16-00505Chester (male)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

This handsome ball of fur is as lovable as he is loving. Chester is a great Yorkie mix, 2 years old and about 11 pounds. The vet says he is a perfect specimen, lean and athletic. He is working on house training and crate training and doing well. He loves children and other dogs but it's unknown how her would get along with cats. This youngster is full of energy and really needs to have a family that will be able to walk him often or kids to play in a yard with. A couple of his favorite games are fetch and playing frisbee. He might even make a great hiking partner. If Chester doesn't get enough exercise he can become bored and turn to ... (Read More)mischief to cure that boredom. Bully sticks and a stuff able Kong help to curb some of that misguided energy as well. He enjoys any kind of tough chewable toys. This sweet boy would probably have trouble containing his zest for life if he were to be crated for 8-9 hours a day so maybe a stay at home human or someone that only works part time would be best. Unless the opportunity to attend a doggy day care where he could play and burn energy is an option. Chester is a dog that is extremely affectionate- this is a dog that will gaze lovingly into your eyes and give you a little lick. He loves to snuggle with his people on the couch (or perch behind you on the back of the couch). He gets a lot of enjoyment playing with other dogs, wrestling and tussling- he sometimes is so enthusiastic that forgets his doggy manners and is too direct and 'in your face' for the other dog's comfort. Fortunately, he pays attention to warnings from other dogs and will back off- he is not one to start scrapping. He also loves to play fetch and Frisbee with his humans. Chester is very intelligent and attentive to his humans. He is also a good guard dog and will bark to alert (we are in the process of learning to stop the barking when I check and say 'thank you'). He is truly a fun-loving, easy going boy who will make someone a loyal and entertaining companion. His foster jokes that he is part kangaroo because of the way he leaps and frolics when he is running- he has powerful back legs. With his intense, soulful eyes, half-an-under bite and his one ear up/one ear down, he is an endearing little guy. Chester is learning to walk very nicely on the leash (currently using an Easy Walk), and has a perky little march with his head and his tail held high. He has longish fur which is easy to maintain and doesn't seem to tangle at all. While Chester would be fine as an only dog, his friendly, good-natured, playful, dog-loving personality makes him perfect for someone looking for a playmate for their current dog. He would really be on the moon if he found himself with a canine best friend as well as a family to love and protect. Chester's adoption fee is $350. He has been vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested negative and he is current of flea/tick and heartworm prevention. PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Maryland
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Maryland Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
