Meet Maxx! Maxx is a 6 month old Pomeranian/Yorkie weighing in at 4 pounds! He was an owner surrender. Maxx was a present to his previous owner who simply did not have the time for a dog, which is when she reached out to us to help find Maxx a home that could give him the attention he deserved. He needs a small breed experienced owner and will require regular grooming. He has a small bladder so will need frequent potty breaks. He also dislikes stones and will only do his business on grass. He needs a home where his people are home a lot. Maxx is great with cats and dogs, and loves to run and play. Maxx needs a home with at least one other ... (Read More)playful dog (the more the merrier). This fella is very active. Maxx is a runner so he needs to have a solid, secured fenced in yard. No small children for Maxx. He would do okay with older, mature children (12 and up). Interested in this dog/cat? Please complete an adoption form from our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org and email to AHSAdopt@gmail.com. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-27-00066Nyah (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Nyah! Nya is a Yorkie Terrier/Chihuahua mix and is 3 years old. Nyah came to us from another shelter. She had been adopted out 3 times and returned 3 times for nipping. We agreed to take her on and help her. Since arriving at AHS we have had no nipping situations. Nyah has given warning growls when she feels her space is being invaded and she wasn't a fan of getting her nails trimmed, but no actual nipping. Nyah is an independent dog and has gotten along great with the dogs and cats at the sanctuary as long as they respect her space. She has a few quirks but nothing difficult to live with. The biggest thing with Nyah is respecting her ... (Read More)space. She enjoys short walks when the weather is good but mostly she loves to just relax. Whoever adopts Nyah needs to be able to offer a calm, relaxed environment. Oh, her owners also need to be an expert at doing nothing and enjoying tons of downtime. Nyah is housebroken and loves her crate (it is her own little sanctuary). Nyah needs a 1 or 2 person home. She is not demanding or bossy, she just wants her space respected (who doesn't?). If we want to hold her we ask her, we do not just scoop her up. Simple things like that give her comfort. No kids for this girl. We know Nyah isn't perfect (but who is?) but we know there is a great home out there for her! Could you give Nyah the home she deserves? PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Indiana
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
