My name is 'Bambi' and I am looking for my 'forever' home. I am spayed, current on shots, heart worm checked and micro chipped. I am very, very shy and it might take several days for me to make up to you! Just be patient with me and I will learn to trust and love you. I like being with other dogs and I like to play. I am working on being house broke and am doing very well. I, also, use 'puppy pads.' I like to lie on your lap and snuggle with you in bed at night. I weigh around 12 lbs and am full grown. I will require some light grooming. I love to go for walks and walk very well on a leash and I also like to go for rides. I've never ... (Read More)been around small children so I don't know really know if I like them or not! I am a 'house' dog and not to be left out in the heat or the cold. Please e-mail my foster mom for an application. I would make a wonderful addition to your family!!!!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00411Santana (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current, Blind

12 year old neutered yorkie mix. We have had him for 2 years and due to his recent health issues, we do not have the time to give him what he needs. Santana has diabetes and is on insulin shots twice a day. He is also going blind from cataracts. As we live in a small loft and we work full time, we are not available to spend time with him as often as he needs. We are also afraid he might fall down the stairs due to his eyesight. We are in no hurry to find him a home so he needs to go to a good home only. Preferably, no very small children. Would prefer somewhere with a backyard or where he will be taken outside regularly throughout the day as ... (Read More)due to his diabetes, he needs to go out and potty a lot. We also have a full bottle of insulin, syringes, special food and his crate that we will send with him. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We call this little guy Dax. He is a year old Yorkie mix. He loves to cuddle into you and get kisses. I want him to go with a fenced in yard because he loves throwing his stuffed toy in the air and running. I don't think he would be happy on a tie out or just walks. He's young and has a lot of energy. This little guy only weighs 6 pounds. His adoption donation is $250

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Reid. Oh my is this a cute little guy. He is a 1-year-old dachshund mix. His original owners were told he was part poodle. We kind of think he looks like a yorkie mix. Perhaps he is 1/2 doxie, 1/2 poodle/yorkie. The end result is that he is super cute and has hair that grows long and needs regular grooming. He is sporting the sleek look with blond tufts on top for his current look. Reid is always a little bashful when meeting new people and new things. He kind of just hangs out in the background doing his own thing until he is ready to say hi. Once he has gotten past his initial shyness, he's a regular guy wanting regular attention and ... (Read More)the opportunity for zoomies. Reid is great with other dogs. He's very playful and silly. He has also lived with an infant, kind of growing up together. He's wonderful with kids who give him that space he needs initially. He's never ever bitey; he just wants to take things slow. Reid is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained too. If you would like to give Reid a forever home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process and required prior to a meet and greet. Reid's adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet girl. A bit wary of strangers and will growl at them. She warm up quickly. She is housetrained and if you let her warm up to you she's a friend for life. She can be food aggressive with other dogs so timed feeding in her crate are advised. I'd say no small children that will get in her face. She will be fine with kids that allow her to come to them when she's ready. This girls colors are stunning! She is an espresso color with splashes of carmel. She is sweet and warm after a couple hours. Koko is very smart. More pics of her on my rescue's Facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/katesk9s/

Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies used to be much larger but have gradually been bred down to become a miniature breed. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
