Keegan: 1 1/2 year old Boston Terrier mix; approx 30 lbs,. Avery: 1 year old yorkshire terrier/schnauzer; approximately 18 lbs. BONDED PAIR. MUST BE ADOPTED INTO THE SAME HOUSEHOLD Meet Bonnie & Clyde aka Keegan & Avery! They are the perfect couple! Avery is the peppy pompom girl who's always on the lookout for fun; Keegan is the handsome rugged hockey star who's able to keep up with her! Avery has never met a stranger; she's smart as a whip and has the energy to match. She's a busy girl who's always on the go; she's definitely not a fragile diva who's content to get her hair done along with a manicure. She's a tomboy at heart with ... (Read More)the pretty face & athletic build of a prom queen! Not all dogs are able to match her energy but Keegan finds her irresistible and meets her stride for stride! He's a sturdy fellow who's very athletic and loves to run & play with his best girl; luckily he wears her out so that they can occasionally enjoys some snuggle time together. Keegan is effusive in his affection when he knows someone but he's had an abusive past so is somewhat tentative when he meets new people. Avery's outgoing nature is the perfect antidote; he keys off her courage and realizes that people & situations are safe much more quickly. Avery gets along with everyone, four legged or two legged. Keegan does fine with most dogs but gets barky around dominant dogs. They are the perfect dynamic duo. As they are a young & active couple, they will definitely need a fenced in yard in their new home. And they'd love daily walks where they'd have plenty of things to sniff! Throw in some hikes and they'd be over the moon! If you'd like to adopt this 'dynamic duo', please let us know! Their adoption fee is $400; they are both fixed; microchipped, current on heartworm preventative as well as vaccinations. If you are interested in adopting this bonded pair, the first step is to fill out an adoption application. One can be found at (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-27-00066Nyah (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Nyah! Nya is a Yorkie Terrier/Chihuahua mix and is 3 years old. Nyah came to us from another shelter. She had been adopted out 3 times and returned 3 times for nipping. We agreed to take her on and help her. Since arriving at AHS we have had no nipping situations. Nyah has given warning growls when she feels her space is being invaded and she wasn't a fan of getting her nails trimmed, but no actual nipping. Nyah is an independent dog and has gotten along great with the dogs and cats at the sanctuary as long as they respect her space. She has a few quirks but nothing difficult to live with. The biggest thing with Nyah is respecting her ... (Read More)space. She enjoys short walks when the weather is good but mostly she loves to just relax. Whoever adopts Nyah needs to be able to offer a calm, relaxed environment. Oh, her owners also need to be an expert at doing nothing and enjoying tons of downtime. Nyah is housebroken and loves her crate (it is her own little sanctuary). Nyah needs a 1 or 2 person home. She is not demanding or bossy, she just wants her space respected (who doesn't?). If we want to hold her we ask her, we do not just scoop her up. Simple things like that give her comfort. No kids for this girl. We know Nyah isn't perfect (but who is?) but we know there is a great home out there for her! Could you give Nyah the home she deserves? PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Indiana
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Indiana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
