Rescue Me ID: 16-05-26-00385Clyde (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Clyde is a 4 year old 7 pound black and white Terrier mix. He is super friendly and affectionate and loves to snuggle. He can be a little shy at first with new people (he does the cutest little hesitation dance when he meets a new person!), then will warm up quickly. He is great with our 7 year-old children. He is energetic and likes to romp outside and have fun, but is also a happy little house dog as well. He loves other dogs, but is a little submissive so he will be happiest in a house with dogs that aren't too dominant. He is currently in a foster home with two other small dogs and they get along perfectly. He is calm and ... (Read More)friendly with cats. He has a long terrier coat which doesn't shed much and it can be kept long and natural (as in the video) or trimmed as desired (see his post-grooming picture for the trimmed look). He is perfectly healthy. He just had a dental cleaning and all his teeth are in good shape, but like ANY little dog he will need regular preventative dental care. He's great about letting us brush his teeth - what a good boy! He is up to date on all of his vaccinations, is neutered and microchipped, heartworm negative and fully dewormed. His bubbly personality, enthusiasm and sweetness make him a wonderful companion. This lively little sweetheart was brought into my vet clinic to be put to sleep at 3 years old because his owner was moving! He hadn't been well cared-for or well trained, but he's happy and healthy now and looking for the loving forever home he deserves. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-20-00083Hannah (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hannah is an adorable little shih tzu who we pulled from New Britain Animal Control a few months ago. It turned out that Hannah was pregnant! Shortly after coming into our rescue she gave birth to 6 totally adorable little puppies. Hannah has been one terrific mom - and she is also one terrific dog! She is lovable, playful, and just enjoys being part of a family. She gets along well with other dogs, and will also be fine with cats. Hannah also absolutely loves children of all ages :) Because of her pregnancy and then her nursing her puppies, Hannah's vetting and spay surgery had to be postponed. Now that all of her puppies have been ... (Read More)weaned, Hannah has be spayed and is current with all vaccines. She is therefore now available for adoption. This sweet little girl will make an absolutely wonderful family member! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Connecticut
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Connecticut Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies used to be much larger but have gradually been bred down to become a miniature breed. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
