Rescue Me ID: 16-06-13-00730Yogi-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog. Yogi is the kind of guy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder. He's so sweet (while being initially just a bit shy) and truly kind with every possibility open to him. That's the case unless a dog like Yogi is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuer in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Yogi from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and his need so great that she couldn't turn her back on this ... (Read More)very special pup. Yogi was immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, neutered, granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin his education as a cherished house dog. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life waiting for Yogi..just 9 - 12 months old and approximately 8 -10 lbs. This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany his family just about anywhere and then fit perfectly onto a loving lap. Yogi will always fit right in due to his great temperament. He is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. Yogi was one of the extremely lucky very young dogs to show great promise in his socialization skills at a very early age. The US rescuers couldn't help but fall in love with Yogi! We all had a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving guy in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life. As Yogi becomes comfortable in his home, he will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he will shine with his accomplishments. We would like to see Yogi in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and of course some lap or couch-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart guy like Yogi and teaches them the skills to fit into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Yogi would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Yogi would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...he's so sweet and gentle as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Yogi was identified as a Yorkshire Terrier/Terrier mix by his Tijuana rescuer. This is difficult to determine with certainty, but we can see both adorable and engaging breeds in this very sweet dog. Yogi appears to be a non-shedding guy with striking markings of gold and black running through his hair. Yogi will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep his hair healthy and matt-free. Yogi will be arriving on transport in Boulder in late June. Applications are currently being accepted for our very sweet pup with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and often very fun and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Kimmy's photos are of her safely in a Tijuana foster home after her rescue from the streets. We're so grateful to all the wonderful Mexican people who participated with so much love in Kimmy's rescue. As Kimmy becomes comfortable in her home, she will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. We would like to see Kimmy in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and of course some lap or couch-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart dog like Kimmy and teaches them the skills to fit into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Kimmy would also be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Kimmy would enjoy another gentle dog to play with (getting adopted to a home she shares with her sister Chloe would be perfect)...Kimmy so sweet and gentle as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Kimmy was identified as a purebred teacup Yorkie by her Tijuana rescuer. This is difficult to determine with certainty, but we can clearly see a stunning Yorkie in this very wonderful dog. Kimmy is a non-shedding girl with the cottony-soft hair and amazing markings of the Yorkie breed. She will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great) to keep her hair shiny, healthy and matt-free. Kimmy is arriving on transport in Boulder in late June. Applications are currently being accepted for our very sweet girl with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and often very fun and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Chloe is the kind of baby who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder. She's so sweet (while being initially just a bit shy) and truly kind with every possibility open to her. That's the case unless a dog like Chloe is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or on the streets hiding in the shadows. Chloe was immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, spayed, granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin her education as a cherished house dog. This was the life waiting for Chloe...just about 12 - 18 months old and a tiny 4.5 lbs. This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about anywhere and then fit perfectly onto a loving lap. Chloe will always fit right in due to her great temperament. Thank you. Hi, my name is Nina the Cool. I travel all over my foster mom's house doing what I can to help. Sometimes I'm lying in the windowsill keeping watch over things. I don't see very much, being mostly blind, but I see light and sense movement. I help clean the dishes in the dishwasher and I find that with my nose. And, I help get cat food out for Mom. I love to lay my head on your shoulder and melt into your arms. I get ... (Read More)along with other dogs and cats. I am 8 years old and I weigh10 pounds. I don't bark much; probably because since I got out of that awful breeder's place, I don't have much to complain about. Well, except I need a mom or dad of my own. I will make an excellent apartment dweller. No small children please because I am delicate. Please ask for me on your application. Love, Nina 020716-13 (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Colorado
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

Yorkie
lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost Colorado Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies used to be much larger but have gradually been bred down to become a miniature breed. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
