Rescue Me ID: 15-09-03-00016Indie (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Indie is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a hug and a wiggle. Once he gets a sudsy bath and haircut...Indie will absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. At 3 years old and about 11 lbs...such a perfect size and age - these small mixes are known to live very long lives. Indie is old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind...he's perfectly house trained and always respectful of the home. Yet he's young enough to have many, many active years left for being a great companion and lap-dog extraordinaire! Indie is every bit the puppy-like guy...fun and active. But at the same time he ... (Read More)is a very well-behaved dog who is not needy or unnecessarily vocal - he usually expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses. Indie loves everyone (both humans and canines)..but can initially be shy. He is immediately very comfortable with women but men and children need to be understanding that it may take just a bit longer for Indie to trust. Once he does, however, there is no better or more bonded best friend. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Indie to a family who expresses their love for him in many different ways. Farfel's rescued Indie from a high-kill shelter a couple of years ago. He was a beautiful and very sweet puppy..and was adopted immediately by a great Colorado family. This family has recently suffered from financial and personal challenges and are so sad to be forced to part with their best friend. They've done a great job in teaching Indie the joys of life and now he is ready to bring his skills to another very lucky family. They had the following to say about sweet Indie: Indie is a charming and very sweet 3 year old Yorkie/Dachshund mix. He has become my best friend (seriously). Probably due to our very close relationship... Indie is most comfortable with women initially, but is fine with men and children after warming up. Indie may bark at some people he is unfamiliar with... but give him a moment and he is quite friendly and open to getting to know them. Indie ignores other dogs until they actually meet, and then if he feels confident that they're friendly and gentle, he loves to play. Indie is completely house broken (hooray) and very clean about himself. The truth is that Indie's true favorite pastime is to snuggle with, on or next to his favorite people. This cute little scruffy boy will follow you around the house because he LOVES people. He walks well on a leash and some have reported seeing him dance when happy...so cute! He will be an amazing best friend and sweet lap-dog to a very lucky family! Right now, Indie is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. We think Indie would be great with very gentle older children (12+ would be great) or with an active adult family or retirees who will include him in their activities. Indie is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Indie is young enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special guy his forever family. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted for adorable Indie. If interested in this devoted and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-19-00202Frankie (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Frankie was brought to our rescue from high kill shelter in Texas where he was dumped because his family decided that they did not want him anymore because they were moving. Frankie weighs about 10lbs and is about 2 years old. He is a cairn terrier/yorkie mix. Frankie will need regular grooming appointments since he is a none-shedding dog and he will need hair cuts to keep him looking oh-so handsome! Here is what his foster mom has to say about him: 'Frankie is a sweetie. He would do best in a home with someone who really needs a full time companion. He loves my husband and is pretty good with one dog but can get stressed out with more than ... (Read More)one (Reasonably). Frankie has been tossed around so much and because of that he wants to protect what is his. When he gets close to someone he does not want anybody else around. He wants to be the only one being loved, or else he is scared it will be taken away from him. Frankie would do best in a lower key home with someone who can really reassure him they are there to stay. He snuggles or wants to be within 2 feet of me at all times, but can sit happily with a toy if I am busy. He LOVES belly rubs! If you let him sleep with you, he will happily cuddle up with you. He generally comes when called and is getting pretty good at 'sit' His leash manners are pretty good, a little work and he would be exemplary. His hair was a little sparse when he came to us but it is already filling in with good food and a safe environment. Frankie still has some puppy behavior in him. He loves to play and nibble at your hands while wiggling his butt to get you to play.' If you are interested in Frankie, please email us at sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com for an application. (Less)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

I am a 9 year old yorkie/silky mix terrier. Due to recent divorce my home life has been shook up and I am not coping well. I need a home with yard access, someone home at least half the day and a tremendous amount of patience. Although I can grow to love a child, I have been snippy in the past and am not to be trusted right away. I am high strung and very anxious. I have a tremendous amount of fear, especially any form of bad weather. Change is a huge struggle for me. If you are very patient I will become your best friend and follow you anywhere. I like small dogs that let me be the boss but struggle with large dominant dogs. I love cats ... (Read More)but they sometimes think I love too much. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in Colorado
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.
