Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Paul McCartney came to us 3 years ago as a baby. He was dumped in a box with another puppy at Village Park Animal Hospital in La Quinta. McCartney was adopted from us right away along with another pup. Unfortunately, the family are breaking up & we felt it was better to rehome the dogs. McCartney is a Shih Tzu Yorkie mix, underweight right now at 8 pounds. We have just completely re-vetted him & had a dental under anesthesia as well. McCartney is serene, super sweet, VERY loving and will make a wonderful lap dog & buddy. Bigger dogs tend to pick on him because he has a Type B personality. If you have another dog let's arrange for a meet n ... (Read More)greet so we know that our Baby is safe. McCartney is fully vetted. Our BASIC Vetting protocol is spay/neuter, all shots including Distemper, Parvo, Bordatella, Corona, Rabies, Heartworm Negative, Fecal to Laboratory, Dental, DeWormed & Microchipped. We are able to offer one month of free medical insurance through Petfinder & a free rescue exam with one of our Veterinarians or someone local to you. You need to do nothing for a year with our dogs as we have done it all. Our dogs are located in Palm Desert & you can contact us about coming for a visit! Our tax deductible adoption donation is $600.00. Due to our high vetting protocol & entire adoption package ~ our Dogs do not last long so if you are interested ~ Email fluffsandscruffs@aol.com for a very prompt response and/or call 310 980 3383 for an appointment.     Say hello to sweet little Nellie! Nellie, a 10 year old, 5 lb Yorkie, was rescued from Animal Friends of the Valley in Wildomar, CA. Nellie came from a hoarding case of 26 Yorkies & Chihuahuas. The public adopted some of the dogs, and the Humane Society took many others. Sadly, Nellie was left behind, because she has mammary tumors, and is severely undernourished. Nellie has all the signs of being the victim of a backyard breeder, or puppy mill. When she was rescued, this precious girl trembled, paced back and forth, and was very timid. She did not know how to act in normal doggie ways. Nellie is now eating well, and starting to gain ... (Read More)some weight. Our foster's pack is teaching her to be calm and playful, and she is beginning to trust. She likes to be picked up and cuddled. Once she is a healthy weight, Nellie will have surgery to remove her tumors. When she heals from the procedure, Nellie will be available for adoption.     PJ is fostered in Vista California, through United Yorkie Rescue. http://unitedyorkierescue.org PJ is a 10 year old, 8 lb. sweet boy, and makes up 1/2 of a bonded Yorkie pair. Diego, his buddy, is a 10 year old, 11 lb. little bundle of joy, a sweet boy. Diego and PJ have the best personalities and love to give kisses. Diego loves to bounce around and play with his buddy and is looking forward to finding a place to call home. PJ is at the perfect weight for his frame, but he has a little hair loss and the vet expects that to come back with the medication he is on for his hyperthyroid. PJ has one tooth, but he's able to eat his kibble just ... (Read More)fine (soaked before he eats to soften it), and his treats have to be of the softer variety. High quality food will be important. PJ was diagnosed with hypothyroidism by the vet, he's started medication which will need to be regulated, and may be a life commitment. His buddy Diego also has hypothyroidism, but affects him differently. PJ and Diego are on the same medication in a different dose, which makes it easy to manage. PJ and Diego are truly bonded and give each other kisses all the time (which it just too cute and neither of them have very many teeth). You would never know their age by their behavior; they play with each other and run around with their other foster brother. Diego (and PJ) are the cutest little loves, and we hope they find a warm loving home they can settle into very soon.     Diesel is a 9 year old beautiful Black/Tan Yorkie who weighs 7 1/2 pounds. This darling little boy is in our rescue because his family could no longer care for him. Since Diesel has been an only dog all his life he would do better in a home with no other dogs although he gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. Diesel has been well taken care of and has no health issues. He wants to be near his person but not necessarily on a lap. Diesel will do ... (Read More)well with a retired person or couple who have a lot of time to love this precious little boy. Diesel gets along with men, women, and children so visitors and visiting children will work well with him. All of PJ's Small Dog Rescue puppies and dogs are indoor dogs with outside potty and play privileges. Please click on our name PJ's Small Dog Rescue at he bottom of Diesel's page for further information about our rescue, policies and fees. PLEASE NOTE we are NOT a SHELTER, we are a RESCUE so we don't have a facility for you to come and visit our rescue dogs and puppies as all the dogs in our care are in foster homes. Yorkie    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Maxwell is fostered Canyon Country CA 91387, through United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. Maxwell is a 10 yr old, 5 lb. Yorkie boy who came to United Yorkie in May 2016. Maxwell was an owner surrender to a shelter, after he got hurt. It's unknown how he was hurt but as it turned out he had a fracture pelvis and ended up having surgery, a Femoral Head Osteotomy, on the right hind leg. The surgeon didn't want to touch the pelvic fractures since they had begun healing nicely on their own. There was a small chance he'd need the same procedure on the other side in the future due to healing, however since his surgery, he's been ... (Read More)doing well and surgery has not been discussed. He's slowly been gaining strength and mobility and is going on longer walks, getting better through lots of love and help from his fur siblings. Maxwell is in physical therapy and will likely need to continue therapy, for mobility, for life. He loves to lie on the couch next to his foster mamma. He's learned to love treats of watermelon, banana, and home cooked chicken with sweet potatoes, carrots, and green beans are, he loves it all! Maxwell spins around in small circles when he gets exited and is a joy. He plays for hours with his foster fur siblings and loves it. Maxwell would benefit from having another dog in the home for companionship. Due to his size and injuries, no small children in the home. This little guy has been through a lot and is deserving of a quiet relaxing home where he'll be pampered and loved and treated like the special little guy he is. To find out more about Maxwell and his needs, contact his foster mamma through the question/inquiry link. Update: Maxwell is doing really well these day. The physical therapy is working and he is becoming a little miracle baby. He walked up a staircase of many stairs for the very first time a couple of days ago. I didn't think he would ever be able to do more than a couple of stairs. An adopter has to be 100% committed to continue these very simple exercises daily. It makes such a difference in his quality of life. To complete an application, go to United Yorkie Rescue http://unitedyorkierescue.org. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Yorkie in California
Yorkie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Yorkshire Terrier is a cute, spunky little dog with a true Terrier temperament. Yorkies can be dog aggressive and wary of strangers. Yorkshire Terriers are loving and devoted to their people and do fine with children who respect them. Yorkies respond well to firm, consistent obedience training but may require patience when housebreaking. They do fine in an apartment but need to play and be taken on a daily walk.

Yorkie
lnteresting Yorkie Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Yorkies were bred to hunt rats in the mines of north England. Yorkies were probably developed by Scotsmen working in Yorkshire, England. Piebald Yorkies came about by an accident of genetics in 1984 and are now considered a separate breed, the Biewer Yorkie. Yorkies used to be much larger but have gradually been bred down to become a miniature breed. Yorkies have been popular ladies' lap dogs for many years.
